Today we’d like to introduce you to Tracy Englund.
Tracy, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
My husband and I dabbled in photography while planning our own wedding. After an amazing experience with our own wedding photographers, we jumped right in to weddings as our desired specialty. Within one year, I was full time with a studio, and the next year, my husband went full time with me.
It was never a question of if we’d make it in this industry, it was day in and out perseverance. With our passion and desire to succeed, we’ve been fortunate to have amazing couples who refer us to their friends, who refer us to their friends, and we’ve thrived. We’ve established great relationships with vendors in the wedding industry, and our work has taken us all over the country. We couldn’t ask for more!
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Of course it hasn’t always been smooth. We have four kids to feed, and gear to continuously upgrade, so there are times we have to push ourselves even harder to encourage bookings, to work back to back weddings, even coast to coast in a weekend. However, there has never been a day we questioned if we were doing the right thing in our lives.
Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about This is You, Emotion Film – what should we know?
First and foremost, we are a husband and wife team. Knowing each other’s strengths and weaknesses, we succeed by taking ownership of individual tasks. We specialize in wedding photography and wedding films, ones that are unlike anyone else. We stay true to who we are. Quirky, sarcastic, laid back, yet determined to put out the best product possible.
Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
A word I hate, as it feels overused, is ‘passion’. However I do think our passion and desire to succeed beyond all obstacles has kept us busy year after year. And, we’re kinda cool people 🙂
