Today we’d like to introduce you to Adonica Diana Nunn.
Adonica Nunn, born in Atlanta, Georgia, raised in Jonesboro, Georgia is an Entrepreneur, Songstress, Songwriter, Health and Wellness Advocate and a graduate of the illustrious Florida A&M University. With a strong passion for singing and performing, Adonica began singing at the age of five at the historic, family foundational, Red Oak United Methodist Church in Stockbridge, Georgia. Adonica has a strong love for her artistry in music, modeling, and community outreach. Adonica has performed at many musical events and shared the stage with other artists on BET Music Matters, FAMU’s Showtime at the Apollo at Lee Hall Auditorium, and the 2016 Trumpet Awards. With a voice as described as “angelic” and “fierce,’ Adonica began to take on the artistry journey eight years ago and from that journey birthed her first EP titled “Release” which is best known for the single, “Placid” and duo album titled, “Creeak” with artist Bri Hightower aka as Kreion. Adonica is also known for her single titled “Red” that reigned with 21.7 thousand plays on the Soundcloud platform. As an eclectic and “out of the box” artist, Adonica is also a southern soul-blues artist, better known as “Yanni.” She released her first southern soul single entitled, “Ohh Wee” with a success of 1.4 million views on the YouTube platform. Her success and the acknowledgment of her distinct sound became very influential in turning her passion into purpose. In artistry, Adonica plans to release new music and visions in 2020, all while excelling in her businesses and increasing enrichment and service with family non-profit organization, C.U.R.S-Read to Feed.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
This marathon has not been a smooth journey, as it relates to music, and many times wanting to give up. Some of the struggles along the way were unfinished ideas and visions for songs, the amount of music kept on hard drives and never released and working to balance a working career with a music career.
Strong advice that Adonica shares consistently is, “Don’t quit!”
What do you do, what do you specialize in, what are you known for, etc. What are you most proud of? What sets you apart from others?
Adonica is completing her Masters of Public Health at Grand Canyon University in October 2019. Currently, Adonica works for Alexander Mann Solutions in project management and health care recruitment. Adonica specializes in Food Chemistry, Health awareness, and health disparities.
Adonica is most proud of servicing her community with a successful non-profit organization called C.U.R.S as well as the American Red Cross. As a brand, Adonica is most proud of the success of her music shared with the world and much more to come, set apart by her angelic sounds, radiant personality, and passion for people. Adonica Nunn is also proud of overcoming the challenges of thyroid disease, which enhanced her passion for health and wellness, and overcoming a change in career paths from Pharmacy to Agriculture and Food Science/Food Chemistry.
Adonica Nunn is truly an “OVERCOMER.”
What’s the most important piece of advice you could give to a young woman just starting her career?
I have so many “take-home” messages to share with the young woman across the globe. These are the most significant ones:
“Lay a brick every day!”
“Don’t wait for opportunity, create it!”
“Don’t quit!”
“Study the business of your craft!”
“I am. I can. I will.”
“Be a lady!”
