Meet Trailblazer Briana Maston

Today we’d like to introduce you to Briana Maston.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Briana. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
My love for science began at a young age. I received my Bachelors of Science in Food Science in 2015. Moved to Georgia right after graduation. Not satisfied with corporate America, my entrepreneurial journey started in 2017. I enrolled in a one year Online MBA program graduating with a Masters in International Business.

With my passion for science and skincare, Made by Brown came alive. Our products are natural and derived from plants. Each handcrafted product is made with love and in small batches.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
It has not been the easiest. A lot of frustration. I believe the biggest issue for me was the expectation of the unknown. Will people like the product? Will people buy it? You invest a lot of time and money on your business baby and want to see it flourish. And the flourishing does not happen overnight. That is what I had to learn- patience. To young women looking to start the Entrepreneurial journey, do it RIGHT now! Do not put it off and keep going. No matter how hard, how tired, or how low the funds get. Keep the focus and grind it out.

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Made By Brown – what should we know?
My skincare products are plant-derived, naturally made. There are no sulfates, no perfumes and gentle enough for the most sensitive skin. The thing that I am most proud of Made By Brown for is that it is made for the many shades of brown people; giving us a safe skincare option.

Finding a mentor and building a network are often cited in studies as a major factor impacting one’s success. Do you have any advice or lessons to share regarding finding a mentor or networking in general?
Do not be afraid to talk with people. Go to every networking event you can and be yourself.
