Meet Trailblazer Cat Lord

Today we’d like to introduce you to Cat Lord.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
Back in 2015, I was attending a high school called McNair. I was president of the art club and I developed new art skills… I’m a naturally born artist but I was afraid to paint. Paint was dope to me but I never grasp to it… I was always an illustrator. I like to sketch with pens and markers until I decided to paint… my school entered the VANS CULTURE Competition where we had to customize a pair of vans… so cool right?… well, that was my first time painting on shoes… I did a Childish Gambino design and every since then, I was known as the lord of customs and my art went from customizing vans to denim jackets and pants, etc.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Life doesn’t have smooth roads… especially when you have no handouts. I used to work jobs to jobs just to invest in art supplies. I literally stop going out to clubs and late partying just to chase my dream as an artist. I have been kicked out of my parent’s crib. I have been homeless before… but I never stop having faith through those tough obstacles. Look, the start isn’t easy… but I learn that if you don’t LOVE YOURSELF ENOUGH to take risk, you won’t ever get what you want in life so my advice to all the young girls out here… if you know you got the power, the skill, the mindset to be GREAT… don’t be afraid to CHALLENGE YOURSELF. As women, we have to reach higher than others and go harder than others. They won’t notice us unless were ON TOP! So, KEEP GOING!! Best believe it’s not a competition if you already WON. We start as winners and finish as CHAMPIONS.

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Cvtlord Culture – what should we know?
CVTLORD is my name and my brand which means CATLORD. I am a fashion designer, model, artist, and rapper. My work is mainly hand painted. All my designs are RARE.

I’m known for the custom VANS and JACKETS. I’m getting more known from my WILD Performances. I’m influenced by ROCK, RAP and ADULT SWIM PRODUCTIONS. (I love zombies) I love the weird mixture, that’s what made CATLORD.

I’m proud that I brand myself. I use my name as a brand I think my brand is a culture. It’s unique, the style isn’t usual. As a female, it doesn’t have that feminine touch, it’s mostly unisex, anybody can wear my brand without bashing it. My art is open to all humankind and aliens.

What’s the most important piece of advice you could give to a young woman just starting her career?
Brainstorm first then work it out. Do all you need to do by yourself. Teamwork makes the dream work.
But as a leader, you must build yourself first. No distractions and less time on social media. REMOVE UNSUPPORTIVE FRIENDS, LOVERS, FAMILY!!!

If things get too hard, remember you are still human. SLEEP, drink water and meditate. Be at one with yourself, then start the next day with positive energy. Take it one day at a time. You’ll love the woman you become at the end.
