Today we’d like to introduce you to Erin Grable.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
Booze, Chews + Views began in July 2017 after realizing I needed something to do with ALL the photos I take. My passion for photography didn’t start then, but it blossomed. I’ve been taking photos of nature, architecture, and food ever since I was in middle school. I love capturing moments because it’s hard to see everything as it happens and it’s hard to remember how it was. I loved sharing my photos with my family and friends but needed a platform. Coming from a journalism background, I oddly wasn’t too into blogging. I already wrote too much for my college newspaper, the magazine I worked for and wrote way too many papers. I just wanted photos with short captions! When Instagram came along, I first used it for selfies, photos of friends, fun college nights, etc. however, after graduating, I met my PIC (Partner in Crime) Tony and we began traveling the world together on holidays. This is when I began to find myself and really expand on my passions for travel, blogging and I transformed into a foodie. Traveling the world and experiencing the culture and trying food in places and cities I’ve never been to is everything to me. I take pictures for myself and I love to share them with others to encourage people to travel the world, explore cities and try things out of your comfort zone food related or not. I love it so much and love my ATL foodie tribe!
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Insta Blogging and blogging isn’t necessarily a rough or smooth road. It’s bumpy and totally dependent on one’s input. Like with anything, you get out what you put in. I don’t think blogging is more challenging for men over women or vice versa. I just know of more women bloggers than men. I think blogging appears easier for young people, people in undergrad or people in PR, because it appears that people at that stage of life or in that career path may have more time, access to trends or have better knowledge with social media, photography, etc. This is a hobby for me and if I can make meet some cool, new people with shared interest, be in the know with new restaurants and maybe make some money, I’m okay with ALL of that!
Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Booze, Chews & Views – what should we know?
My photos are of anything and everything forms my perspective and all of my photos are taken on my iPhone. I take pictures of architecture and interior and exterior of buildings, landscapes, nature, food, and people. As I spend my days attempting to balance the work/life concept and maintain a somewhat healthy and leisurely lifestyle, I document it. I’m known for my daily debacles at home and at work, luxurious shots of delicious food I create or purchase, libations at home or out, and picturesque moments of my travels around the world. Where I think I’m different than other Instablogs, is that I don’t just focus on food or travel or fitness. I probably should for the algorithm, but I’m just 100% me. I’m not a vegan or a meat lover. I appreciate both. I go out and party, but I also work hard professionally and physically. I love to show my followers that you don’t have to be one thing or the other. This doesn’t mean I don’t know who I am, but it shows that I like change. I’m a hardworking, party animal who loves to drink, eat and travel.
Do you feel like there was something about the experiences you had growing up that played an outsized role in setting you up for success later in life?
Growing up in a large family (9 amazing kids), I wasn’t sure what I wanted to be as an adult. I always looked up to my siblings and wanted to live a fun fulfilling life like I saw my siblings doing at different stages of their lives. One went the corporate route, some got married young and I wasn’t sure I should do from seeing so many different options out there with what my siblings were doing. I did know I loved people and wanted to help people in some way whether it was mental, with advice or if it was physical, like helping someone move. I knew those were just traits and that I didn’t want to be a counselor or work for a moving company… LOL. I have just always loved talking to people and making connections. Now, networking is my full-time job. For me, it comes natural and it always has. I know that’s not the case for everyone. I’ve always had the courage to get up and talk to anyone no matter who they were. Man, woman, older, younger, janitor or CEO. Whether you take this and apply it to your blog or other life situations, my advice is to see the world and the people in it from this perspective: We’re all people and we wake up the same way. We put on clothes (hopefully), we go to school or work, the same way. That doesn’t mean we’re the same socially, politically, etc., but we’re human. Being open-minded and welcoming has been something that has come from my childhood and is still with me today. This open-mindedness and willingness to accept others have done wonders for me personally and professionally. I have multiple friend circles from high school to adulthood, including my foodie tribe. It’s so fun to meet new people with shared interests like loving food. Especially people from different upbringings and some from other cultures!
