Meet Trailblazer Halani Lobdell

Today we’d like to introduce you to Halani Lobdell.

Halani, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I’ve always been an athlete growing up and always worked out as an adult. I took my level of fitness to another level once I joined the fire department and even more so after the birth of my 2nd child. I gained 50lbs and I desperately needed help to lose the weight I put on during the pregnancy. I hired a personal trainer who aided me in weight loss and who also encouraged me to start competing in bodybuilding competitions. Seven shows later, I was a fitness addict and my husband, Jason, was drawn into the lifestyle. Our love for changing lives thru fitness whether thru weight loss, improvement in physical health, or mental health propelled us to open The Loft Athletic Club in January 2018. I began teaching Glute Camp, the largest female instructed class in Atlanta, that focuses on tightening, toning, & lifting the lower body.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
There are always going to be bumps in the road, however, how we deal with those bumps determines the outcome. Use the “bumps” as learning tools and keep going. Dreams do not come to fruition by quitting.

What do you do, what do you specialize in, what are you known for, etc. What are you most proud of as a company? What sets you apart from others?
I am a Battalion Chief with Dekalb County Fire Rescue. I train 50-150 women every Saturday morning in my Glute Camp class. I also have an online program, Lower Body Blast, in our X28 online fitness program. I am known for shaping and toning the lower body. I’m often called Superwoman because I wear so many hats career-wise and being a wife and mom. What sets me apart from others is my work ethic. I work to be in a lane of my own and I never accept complacency.

We’re interested to hear your thoughts on female leadership – in particular, what do you feel are the biggest barriers or obstacles?
I really do not think in 2019 there are many barriers for women in leadership. I actually feel, we as women sometimes subconsciously create barriers for ourselves. Strive to be the best at everything! Strive to lead the pack!
