Meet Trailblazer Jocelyn A Rivera

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jocelyn A Rivera.

Jocelyn A Rivera is the 23-year-old CEO and founder of The press play agency a digital relations publicity firm, centered around creating fair, creative & afford marketing strategies for clients in many facets of the entertainment world.

The millennial creative got her to start curating small scale music showcases to highlight indie hip hop artists in Brooklyn New York. She quickly gained the attention of larger companies such as The Rap Fest Daily Motion, Ethik Clothing Co, The Rap Chat, Sony Music, Spray Ground just to name a few each of which has partnered and assisted in taking her brand to the next level. Throughout her time in the industry, Rivera has done freelance A&R, marketing, and publicity for just about every major record label working to push indie & signed artist to their highest potential, earning her spot at tables with not only her impeccable work ethic, but also her personality gaining close to 20k followers who love not only her work but her as person! Aside from her work in marketing, Jocelyn has contributed to over 40 well-known hip hop blogs. Thus, landing her the position of vice editor and chief of The Rap fest (later head of programming) and Program Director at Hot 97s “New Mvmt”, while managing over 25 journalists and content curators. Her work has been recognized by top tier publicists and marketers all over the country who are always more than happy to collaborate with her.

Today, she has become a leader in the shift from traditional public relations to the newly coined term “digital relations.”

Has it been a smooth road?
The biggest struggle has been leaping into entrepreneurship with not an ounce of background in it, trusting my gut & my abilities when no one else could understand.

I’d stay plan plan plan but don’t over plan if that makes sense have some fallbacks or assist rather but always go for the gold.

So much of the media coverage is focused on the challenges facing women today, but what about the opportunities? Do you feel there are any opportunities that women are particularly well positioned for?
Sooo many!! Females in music are extremely important as a manager my female touch had been exactly what my guys needed to take them to the next level my attention to detail my approach and overall style is definitely something that has changed outcomes for my artist.
