Today we’d like to introduce you to T’Shauna King.
T’Shauna, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I’m originally from Decatur, GA where I’ve been at the forefront of watching the neighborhoods of Metro Atlanta change and evolve into what we know and love today. I received my Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from the University of West Georgia and I’m currently obtaining my Master of Social Work for Georgia State University.
I’ve worked for the Division of Family and Children Services for 3 1/2 year. Overall, I’ve enjoyed all of the experience I’ve gained there but I knew I was being called to serve my community on a larger scale.
My passion for helping people led me to serve my community by empowering individuals to generate wealth through real estate.
Has it been a smooth road?
Absolutely not!
Not only am I a licensed Realtor, I’m also a student, but I also work, I’m active in my community, my sorority (Delta Sigma Theta) and my church (The Harvest Tabernacle Church). So, the answer is no, it has not been a smooth road. Entrepreneurship requires a mentality shift that I think most people ignore. To the public eye, Real Estate is this Fancy/glamorous career. They see nice clothes, nice cars, big houses and they assume it’s easy. Real Estate requires a lot of hard work especially in a market that’s as hot as the market we have now.
My main struggle was stepping out of my comfort zone. I was used to completing all of my work behind the scenes. I had to get used to stepping in front of the scenes to market my self and my business.
Another struggle is that mentality shift I mentioned earlier. Entrepreneurship/Real Estate is not for the faint at heart. We have to get through a lot of No’s and rejection to get to the “Yes” everyone see on Instagram.
My advice for other women would be to stay the course and be resilient. I heard a speaker say before “The difference between the 1% that made it and everybody else is that the one percent never gave up” Remember for every no there’s a yes. I’m a firm believer that you need talent plus resilience because if you can’t out-talent the competition, you’ll surely outlast them.
Please tell us more about what you do, what you are currently focused on and most proud of.
