Hi Tredesha, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
Good day, my name is Tredesha Pierre-Hart and I am the CEO and Founder of T&R Trucking Enterprise. T&R Trucking Enterprise was established in December 2019, just a few months short of the pandemic. I originally began looking into the transportation industry in 2018 during the purchase of my home. My realtor, Meko the Realtor was talking to my husband and I about recession proof industries and guided me to a platform that teaches everything you need to know about the industry as well as starting your own transportation business. I studied the Industry for about a year and then I called her back and said, “I think I am ready to jump off the cliff.” She responded, “Don’t be scared, just do it.” From that day forward, I began taking classes, mentorships, attending seminars and conferences, listening to Truck -n- Hustle podcast, anything that you can think of so I do not miss anything that is going on in the industry. I have not only grown to a Fleet of 4 units, I have also opened my own Consulting Agency whereas I can assist people who want to get into the industry, get up and running and assist them with their day to day operations.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
As many may know that the Transportation industry can be very lucrative, but it can also be very challenging if you are not maintaining your operations correctly. One’s biggest downfall in this industry is not having proper money management. The efficiency of your business is everything and your biggest expense is the maintenance of your units. When I started this journey, I was employed at Cobb County Police Department and was still running my own Commercial Cleaning Company. I use to grab my computer and all my paperwork and head to work with it to work on in my downtime. As I wrapped up my 12hr shift, Iwould head to work on my properties with my employees. I had about 6-7 properties and three employees with the help of my husband Jahmal Hart. I felt I was overwhelming myself and not taking time out for myself and my 3 kids except on weekends. One day my best friend questioned me and said, “why are you still at your government Job which takes 12hrs out of your day?” I pondered on that questions for months. My mother, Maritza Leerdam-Pierre, then asked me the same question and I responded saying, “if one day my businesses goes downhill, I still have a secured job.”Lastly, one day my Mentor/Business Coach Adam Wingfield was In Atlanta and we sat down and had a long discussion about my operations as well as my job with the county. One thing I must he is a numbers guy! He spoke life into me day in and day out. Between him, my husband, my mother and my best friend, they constantly told me I was killing myself out. On August 1, 2021, I decided to hang up the badge, the certifications and everything that came with Public Safety and spread my wings.

Do you have any advice for those just starting out?
PATIENCE! That is the keyword for this business. One bad move or wrong decision can literally cost you your entire operation. Nothing happens overnight and nothing in life comes easy. Have at least a substantial amount of money set aside prior to starting your business. There have been trucks that has hit the road within one week after purchase and has broken down with repairs that warranty does not cover. Learn the industry, get in the building, do not rely on YouTube and do not be afraid to ask for help.
