Today we’d like to introduce you to Tresa Sanders.
Tresa, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
There are times in life where things just fall into place. I never set out to be a publicist or marketer but the universe obviously had. I was in NY when I met a man that worked in the entertainment business who in turn introduced me to Daddy-O, the founder of the hip-hop band, Stetsasonic.
A friendship was made and Daddy-O asked me to represent him as a publicist. He introduced me to two icons in the business, Bill Adler and Leyla Turkkhan. Leyla welcomed me with open arms to learn the business and there the journey began. I sat under the masters, began making cold calls and the clips started rolling in for Daddy-O’s new solo project. I was able to get him clips in everything from the NY Times to Rolling Stone.
But not even 3 months later she closed her business, in came Bill Adler. Bill to this day is my sensei and my big brother. he taught me the fundamentals of PR. I worked for him as an account executive immediately. He was impressed that someone with NO experience could garner such big hits, so he hired me at a higher level. I stepped into PR as an executive.
A few years later Adler closed his business so I was forced to focus on my own. TreMedia started as Asert PR and now we were officially out on our own. TreMedia garnered many highly respected clients out of the gate including Priority Records, Polygram Records, Interscope and Roc-A-Fella to name a few.
Early on, we were able to help launch Dr. Dre’s new label Aftermath, Jay-Z as a new artist as well as Master P, and Jermaine Dupri’s transition from a producer to an artist and have gone on to work with many platinum, gold, and chart-topping acts such as Mary J. Blige, Future, Yo Gotti, Solange and more.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Being an entrepreneur has not been an easy road but has been the road I prefer to travel. Nothing is more edifying than to create your own lane and be successful at it.
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the TreMedia story. Tell us more about the business.
TreMedia is a PR and Marketing agency that specializes in the world of entertainment. As a company, we are most proud of breaking new artist and what has set us apart from others is our very hands-on approach.
