Today we’d like to introduce you to Troy Faruk.
Troy, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
To be an entertainer has been my passion since I was ten. Specifically, music because it had such an impact on me as a young introverted kid growing up in a small town. I would learn song after song until I taught myself how to write lyrics from my perspective at 13. Movies that had cool characters I wanted to emulate was how I formed my personality as a teenager. I was a bit different, never really fit in any crowd, an awkward outsider so to speak. I was a creator, I just didn’t know it. I was meant to follow my path so that I can to be an example to show others what’s possible. To let them know its okay to take risks and think big. It was a responsibility that I always felt but never knew how to explain or make sense of in my mind. So I struggled as a teenager and most of my adult life trying to figure out my own identity. I love acting because it allowed me to take another writer’s work and bring that character to life as the writer intended.
The complexity of the material plays specifically expanded my mind, comprehension, and communication. Acting is a craft that I take great pride in continuously honing. It also helps me avoid the cutting room floor as a stunt performer. Every true performer wants to make the screen. I came to a crossroads in 2012 where I decided to quit my bartending job and pursue the business 100 percent. It was far from an effortless path, but every experience contributes to making us who we are today. Or at the very least, the perception of who we think we are. I am grateful to say that I’m a working actor and stunt performer for the last eight years after taking that leap into the unknown. That leap has propelled me back to my true passion which I never let go of. Music. I created Top Air Entertainment and released my first EP titled “The Dream Never Dies” in 2018. While learning all the potential avenues of earning as an independent artist, I managed to land two music placements on “LA’s Finest” and “90210”.
As a content creator, it is really important to have a big picture vision and be original and true to your vision. That’s led to multiple wins in the film festival circuit for two music videos. Now that music has been added to the repertoire of a multi-faceted entertainer, I can truly say I’m aligned with my life’s purpose. This journey has truly led me to a level of clarity in realizing who I am. We all have a light inside of us and a purpose. We can all contribute in our unique way to make the world a better place. It’s the message to live by and a recurring theme in my current working project “Dream Projection” set to be released this Spring. In the meantime, you can find TR Faruk “The Dream Never Dies” on all streaming platforms and subscribe to my YouTube channel.
Has it been a smooth road?
I think the biggest obstacle as an artist is getting out of your way. As hard as it may be, release the need for validation from others. Let go of the fear of putting yourself out there. Let go of caring what others may think, or needing for someone to understand your vision. Your path is your path. Own it, believe it, live it to your core. Educate yourself, collaborate with others who can complement what you’re doing, and most importantly reciprocate that for others. Be sure to be grateful every day. Always come from a place of love, not fear. Release the need for perfection and enjoy the process of creation.
We’d love to hear more about your work.

You can be an artist anywhere with the proper drive, preparation, and execution. I feel that Atlanta is the perfect place to be for an artist given all the expanded opportunities available. I’ve built my entire career in Film and Television which spans over 100 credits never working a day in LA. I started from scratch right here in Atlanta.
