Meet Troy Vincent of The Engraving House

Today we’d like to introduce you to Troy Vincent.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Troy. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
In 2005, I was owner of a small personalized poetry business. I personalized poems for various occasions. In April of 2005 I received an email from a customer requesting help with the poem for his parents’ 65th wedding anniversary.

After the job was completed he showed me this stunning, stone plaque made of pure black marble. The front side had his parents’ wedding picture etched into the stone. On the back side was the poem that we’d created.

In awe of its beauty, I asked would he consider making me one for Mother’s Day which was fast approaching. I provided him with a picture of my sister who’d recently graduated from college.

I traveled to New Orleans with the gift. My mother LOVED it! She displayed it proudly on her mantel in the living room.

Fast forward to August of that year. Hurricane Katrina struck. The contents of the house were destroyed. The only possession I found that survived the storm was the stone keepsake Mother’s Day gift. For a moment, the tears ceased and a calmness came over my mother. She held the keepsake against her chest for what seemed like hours. We drove back to Atlanta in complete silence. It was during that time I realized the importance of preserving memories. That seven hour ride was the beginning of what is known today as The Engraving House, “Where Memories Are Set in Stone.”

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The road has not always been smooth, but was it’s always been well worth it. The struggles have varied. One struggle is articulating the concept of engraving to potential customers. We tell people the only limitation is your imagination. We can engrave any image and cut out any shape. Another challenge has been keeping up with customer demand. We work with both, businesses and many industries, as well as end users. As a company, we are very particular about only hiring those who cannot only see the vision, but are willing to walk in that vision every day.

Please tell us about The Engraving House.
We are an engraving services provider. We manufacture and retail custom gifts, memorials, keepsakes and awards. We specialize in preserving memories. What we are most proud of as a company is we treat every customer in a special way. No two customers are alike. The product we create are as unique as the individual or event being recognized.

Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
Being in New Orleans with my family and friends, experiencing all that the city has to offer. New Orleans has its own culture. I’m fortunate to have been raised there.
