Meet Ty Andrews of Ty Andrews Productions in Atlanta Metro and Northlake

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ty Andrews.

Ty knew at a very young age that music and art fed his soul as he played alongside his toy drumming panda in a small church founded by his father Rev. Eli Andrews, Sr. in Panama City, Florida. Coloring books were boring, but the inside covers had a cleaner, more inviting canvas for sketching and doodling. His artwork was first published in Highlights for Children Magazine at age 11. At the first opportunity to join the middle school band, Ty learned to play tenor saxophone and later joined, Steel Breeze steel drum band as a drummer. He then became a flashy, crowd-pleasing drum major at A. Crawford Mosley high school following his training by the world-class Spirit of Atlanta Drum and Bugle Corp.

After graduating Florida A&M University with a Bachelors in Graphic Design, Ty lived a corporate life as a graphic designer and creative director. Ty stepped back into music in 2009 performing with a vocalist group named “Prism” and never looked back. He developed a wide range tenor voice and began to explore a diverse repertoire of music genres on his own. With a diverse, avant-garde style influenced by electronic, jazz, world and gospel roots, Ty ‘s music emerged into a unique expression that touches hearts and open minds.

He has performed internationally at special events, concerts and conferences with live bands, music teams, national youth/teen programs as well as opened for best-selling author/speakers Jean Houston, Les Brown and Iyanla Vanzant.

His debut single “Letting Go” is an anthemic Bollywood inspired song about freedom. The self-produced EP project includes a vividly mystical music video and photo shoot with celebrity photographer David Rams. It also pays tribute to his Native American Muscogee Creek background with “In Beauty May I Walk” written by Karen Drucker. Ty’s recent work, “Space” topped the NumberOne Music (N1M) charts at #1 for Electro Lounge. It’s one of his most personal songs addressing a battle with depression. Outside of the recording studio, Ty serves as Co-Director and a conductor for Sound of Light Choir, an affiliate group of Spiritual Living Center of Atlanta (SLCA).

After years blazing the visual arts and advertising industry, Ty’s passion to create and learn continues to burn brightly. He is currently the Principal of Ty Andrews Productions specializing in creative design, audio and visual content for B2B and B2C markets. As a multifaceted artist, Ty has used his gifts in various ways to inspire others and help build exceptional, purpose-driven brands. Ty has provided brand coaching and creative support for entrepreneurs, entertainers, non-profits and corporations. He has helped build brands for the Florida Lottery, Kaleidoscope Child Foundation, AmeriCorps, Universal Studios, Georgia Lottery, BBDO, Target, Walmart and CVS stores. He has also worked on TV programs aired on TV One, Fox and NBC.

Helping youth is also an important initiative for Ty to use his skills and talent. He is the co-founder of Conscious Kids Network (CKN), a publishing service empowering children and their supporters through print, media and entertainment. Together with co-founder Jean Bell, Ty and Jean have published 3 children’s books–Brookie’s Adventure, Brookie’s Adventure Coloring Book and Splash: I Love Being a Raindrop.

Ty is dedicated to paving a future that allows for growth, innovation and excellence to lead. He recently became a graduate at Atlanta Institute of Music and Media Recording Arts & Technology program where he is expanding his creativity in audio and music production.

According to Ty, his pathway is up.

Has it been a smooth road?
Being a creative person has been a blessing and a curse. Having different talents and skills has often prevented me from feeling a sense of focus or decided where to direct my energy 100%.

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Ty Andrews Productions story. Tell us more about the business.
I am currently Principal of Ty Andrews Productions providing creative design, audio and visual content for B2B and B2C markets. Our core focus is graphic design and branding and it is used in various ways to inspire others and help build exceptional, purpose-driven brands.

I am proud of the many different opportunities I’ve had to use my skills and expertise on a large scale and one-on-one client relationships no matter the budget. My approach to creative design is more than making things “look good”. That’s too easy. I believe setting clients up for success with the best creative solutions involves knowing, What inspires you about the vision? Who are you trying to reach and what is your brand promise to them?

As an “artistpreneur”, I enjoy creating and collaborating with other artists, authors, speakers, entrepreneurs and entertainers. I started an online apparel company, Think Up Tees as a fun way of expression. Who doesn’t love a great T-shirt? I am also proud to use my skills and talents to work with children whether it be through teaching after-school arts programs or music production.

How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
I see myself expanding into working in a bigger role in the entertainment industry as well as taking on mentoring opportunities for youth initiatives.

As a recent graduate of Atlanta Institute of Music and Media recording and technology program, I want to explore how sound can be used for healing. On an even broader, more ambitious scope, I want to use my new audio engineering skills to create a fun, positive music album with youth, as well as provide creative arts mentoring opportunities and supporting scholarships.

I believe sound is the “medicine of the future” and I want to channel my skills as an audio engineer for good in the music industry by exploring ground-breaking ways to embed sound therapy. If therapeutic tones, for example, were used in kids video games, elevator music, film/movies or any other mediums we often take for granted, we could help treat illnesses and undeniably create a better world and greater purpose for the recording industry.
