Meet Ty Hill of Ty Ellih Weddings & Events in Midtown Atlanta

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ty Hill.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Ty. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
Ty Ellih Weddings & Events, LLC, formally known as ELITE Weddings & Events, was founded in April 1998 in small town Ames, Iowa. It relocated to Atlanta, Georgia in July 2003, became a nationwide company in January 2006 and began international service in October 2008.

It started out solely as a hobby, an extra-curricular activity on my college campus, planning events and conferences for various school organizations. My very first wedding was for a college friend on April 4, 1998. At the time I didn’t even know that planning weddings could be a career until my friend’s parents asked if that’s what I wanted to do. This was right after they’d handed me a generous check for a job well done for doing something I did for free to help a friend. So after the spring semester was done I spent the summer researching possible careers in wedding planning and wedding planners in the industry. And so it began….slowly, but the fire was lit. I just had to finish my degree first.

This venture has blossomed out of a passion and love for organizing intricate details and seeing those details come to life. The ultimate satisfaction has been, and will forever be, witnessing the pleased expressions on the faces of those I have served.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Haaaa! No, not by any means. Initially, there was the battle with self as to whether I put this expensive degree to use post-graduation, that by the way, had nothing to do with event planning or pursue my new dream. I chose the latter. This choice posed a small problem because my degree wasn’t in business either and therefore I didn’t know the first thing about starting, running, maintaining one. So I went to school to pursue my MBA, which helped. The biggest challenge beyond that, however, has been realizing the grave importance of marketing and maintaining it in an ever-changing, rapidly growing world where trends are like underwear. Because as we all know, not having any marketing is like having a closed for business sign on your front door.

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Ty Ellih Weddings & Events story. Tell us more about the business.

Some years back, I had the pleasure of attending a wedding planned by Ty Ellih and I have to say, it was the most awesome wedding that I have every attended to this day. Every detail was though out to the fullest and it was hands down absolutely beautiful. WHEN I get married, I will definitely use all of their services.
