Meet Ty Sintrell of BrideNavy in Roswell

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ty Sintrell.

Ty, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I would say that I have always been a dreamer and I’ve always wanted to have my own business. My first business was created In 2011 and I use to make pre-tied bow ties that were unique to any other bow tie that could be found in the store. I moved to Atlanta in 2012 and I realized that this city was so full of opportunity and I wanted my shot. I created a business called The Melanin Advocate LLC and I sold apparel. The message written on the apparel was called “Respect My Melanin”. I came up with this business because growing up I dealt with a lot of colorism (being picked on because I had darker shade of melanin).

I’m still running this business and in 2018 I decided I wanted to go back to school to get my degree in Graphic Design and Web Development. I graduate this year and I decided I wanted to focus my career in the wedding industry. So, I did some research and realized that there wasn’t a lot of businesses that catered to wedding parties that had two brides. So, with that idea in mind BrideNavy was born.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I wouldn’t say things have been super smooth but they haven’t been super rough either. I just launched BrideNavy in January and I’ve learned so much already about the wedding industry. I guess I’ll have more struggles in the future but for now, I am enjoying the growing process.

BrideNavy – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
BrideNavy is a product/service based business that provides personalized wedding gifts and accessories for two brides or one bride. All brides can book a consultation of what they want and we will create a unique experience for them. I am most proud that in this process I get to help my friends who are getting married this year. I think I’m different from my competition because I am apart of the LGBTQ community.

What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
Just having my friends to believe in me and actually book me for their special day.
