Meet Tyesha P of HIZXHIERZ

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tyesha P

Hi TYESHA, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I’ve always had a strong interest in clothing from a young age, particularly in men’s fashion, which evolved into my tomboy look. Growing up in Brooklyn, I was exposed to a variety of different styles that inspired my own. Attending Catholic school, where we mostly wore uniforms, made dress-down days feel like my personal fashion show. While I never labeled myself as “fly,” the streets certainly did.

Everything changed during my freshman year of college when I won the “Best Dressed” award. This recognition highlighted how others viewed me and ignited a deeper interest in fashion. To expand my knowledge, I took a fashion textile course that taught me how to sew garments and evaluate the quality of different fabrics. It was during this experience that I realized sewing wasn’t my favorite aspect of fashion; instead, I discovered my passion for creating templates, sourcing fabrics, and developing patterns.

With the knowledge I gained, I often thought about creating my own pieces but never fully executed it because I was unsure of what to name my brand or where to begin. Eventually, the name Hizxhierz (His & Hers) felt right for me because it represents everything I am—a female with a deep interest in men’s apparel and sometimes embracing styles that blend both worlds.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Entrepreneurship is definitely not an easy road, especially when you’re the one wearing all the hats. It can get lonely, overwhelming, and even discouraging at times. No one warned me or prepared me for the twists, turns, and mishaps that come with starting a business. I jumped in, thinking my passion alone would make the journey easy—but I was wrong. Between finding the right manufacturers and graphic designers, to sourcing fabrics and creating accurate fitting size charts, I faced countless challenges on the daily. During my search for the right manufacturer, I encountered several who delivered poor-quality work or even ran off with my payments without providing the goods. That experience alone discouraged me and made me want to give up, but I persevered. When it’s your passion, it’s just not that easy to quit. I learned that whether you’re just starting out or already seeing success, hiccups will constantly occur, no matter what field of entrepreneurship you’re in.

The real question is: will you keep going, or will you give up

Can you share something surprising about yourself?
For those who have started or want to start a business, remember this: it won’t be easy, but dont let outsiders, personal feelings, fear or doubt stop you from pursuing your gift. Your passion and creative skills are apart of who you are, embrace it and allow the world to see what you can do.
