Today we’d like to introduce you to Dj Insomnia.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Dj Insomnia. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
My name is Tyler Fulwood better known as DJ Insomnia and I am a Native of Savanah, Ga, Growing up in a single-parent home located in a poverty-stricken neighborhood where the odds were against you from the jump is where my journey started. Where I’m from its either jail or the graveyard for the majority. I got tired of seeing my mom hurting from my brother’s mistakes and wanted to take a different route so I decided to attend college after graduating from Jenkins High School in Savannah, Ga. I started out at Valdosta State University but then transferred to Georgia Southern University (The Real GSU) where I graduated college with a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering and a minor in business.
Throughout my journey in college, I came across my passion in 2015 which is Djing. I remember it like it was yesterday when I started out with a cracked iPod and some Walmart Speakers and dj’d my first kickback which was one for the books. At that moment I realized that I could really turn this into something serious. I began to purchase equipment with my school refund check and then dj’d an entire Summer for free to get my name out averaging about 3 to 4 gigs every week. The rest is history. Fast Forward to May 2017 I graduated and adulting hit. I had no experience, internships, co-ops, etc so finding a job was a little tough. After hundreds of applications declines, I finally started working in August 2017 as a Production Engineer at Great Dane in Statesboro, Ga.
Over the year and a half I worked there I realized how much of an impact I had made at Georgia Southern University djing over the course of years. People who had been apart of my djing journey would always hit me up and be like this DJ wack or come back and DJ again but realistically thinking I knew I couldn’t be there physically to save the day. After many sleepless nights knowing the world needed a solution to this problem and knowing I had a greater purpose I hit up my one of my best friends Daunte Albritton who is now my business partner and told him I had another idea that would change the djing world forever. That’s when the idea of Crwdhero was born. Being a DJ for three years at the time I noticed the hassles of people trying to request songs/shout outs at the DJ booth. Long story short I wanted to create an innovative hassle-free more convenient way to find the move/vibe and interact with the DJ. I knew that the 9 to 5 life was not for me even making salary so I stacked my money, took a leap of faith back in March of 2019, moved to Atlanta August 2019, and launced CrwdHero in September of 2019.
Has it been a smooth road?
This definitely hasn’t been a smooth road but I’m a big believer that the road to success is always under construction and nothing worth having comes easy. Our first business that was in the works was Cartroes which was gone be a grocery delivery app, but that fell through and look how huge that market is now.
Some of the other biggest struggles were disciplining myself to save up for the development of the CrwdHero, getting people to believe in the vision, taking a leap of faith and believing in myself not knowing what was behind the next door in life, finding authentic people to join the team who realizes that success doesn’t come overnight, and last but not least our current challenge which is raising funds to take this app to the next level.
So, as you know, we’re impressed with CrwdHero – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of and what sets you apart from others.
Crwdhero is a location-based mobile app company that helps people find the vibes/moves and connects the DJ with the crowd. With this app, the crowd no longer has to deal with the hassles and headaches of trying to request their favorite songs or get that birthday s/o for their best friend. I’m a former Mechanical Engineer but I decided to truly chase my passions full time now. I specialize in Djing, producing, and entrepreneurship. I have my own apparel company called D9tees as well.
I’m most proud of the fact that Crwdhero is officially launched, people downloading and using it every week, and the amazing team I have so far. The vision we have for this company sets us apart and also being the only app that helps you find the vibe/move while connecting you with the DJ is one of a kind. As a DJ/Producer what sets me apart from others is my drive, relentlessness, versatility, and passion for this Gift from God. As a DJ/Producer/Entrepreneur I plan on going to the top no matter how long it takes. Passion To Profits!!
Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
I love the endless networking and opportunities that come with living in Atlanta now. I hate the traffic and the scammers lol.
