Today we’d like to introduce you to Tyler Hatten.
Tyler, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I was born and raised in Kansas City, Missouri. I began singing in my elementary school choir. I would then go to singing in choir throughout middle school, high school and college. Even while getting my degree in Journalism, I always knew I wanted to be a singer. Once I graduated college, I moved to Dallas and now, I’m fully pursuing my music career.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
No, and that’s mostly because of self-doubt. I spent years being afraid of failure which is why I went to college. If I could do it all over, I would’ve never went and followed my dreams.
Please tell us more about what you do, what you are currently focused on and most proud of. What sets you apart from the competition?
As a singer, I can sing anything, lol, but I’m more of a soprano range. I’m also learning how to play the piano. What sets me apart is that I actually love music, lol, I’m not doing it for money. I would like to be an independent artist with a distribution contract, I think that’s the smartest way to maneuver in the music game. I’m a perfectionist, so I’m not going to just put anything out I want to make sure it’s right. I want to be around for a long time, a legend.
What is “success” or “successful” for you?
Success is happiness to me. Being able to wake up and being happy that you’re going to “work”. Creating music to me doesn’t even feel like work because I’m so happy when I’m doing it. Also, being able to do what I want without having to worry about where my next check is coming from.
