Meet Tyrone Bachman of Ty The Master Barber in Midtown

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tyrone Bachman.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I grew up in Johnson City, TN in Carver Projects to a mother who was addicted to crack cocaine and a father who went to prison in 1982 when I was five years old and is currently still imprisoned. I graduated High School and later graduated college with a Bachelors degree in Mass Communications. Afterward, I worked as a Director/Technical Director in television broadcasting for 15 years and was fortunate enough to win an Emmy. After being blackballed, I decided to go to Barber College. After two years of Barber College and one year working in a shop part time and at the TV station full time, I decided to take a leap of faith and resign from Broadcasting and become a full-time Master Barber. I’ve been a Master Barber for seven years now.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
God has always provided all my needs but it hasn’t always been smooth. I started my barbering career with limited clientele so I had to hand out business cards and give out free haircuts until my clientele grew.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with Ty The Master Barber – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of and what sets you apart from others.
I am an independent contractor working in Furious Styles Barbershop in Midtown Atlanta. I pride myself in the four Cs concept: Cutting, Customer Service, Conversation and Consistency in all areas. As a barber and a brand I pride myself on my faith in God, work ethic, creativity, integrity and being able to provide various services within my industry. These services consist of the ability to cut all types of hair, designs, coloring, enhancements, facials and man units.

So, what’s next? Any big plans?
My goals and ambitions are to eventually own and franchise upscale barbershops, receive my instructor’s license and open a Barber College.
