Today we’d like to introduce you to Valencia Henry.
J Valencia Style Studio started out as a Hair Company called Dynasty Hair & Personal Care. Which was a hair company at first. But I focused on much more than just hair extensions so the name never stuck. I worked in 3 major salons in San Antonio, Texas and one thing was missing from each of them that I wanted to offer in my salon. One night I was up around 3 am visually creating the kind of work environment I wanted as a stylist one who was on the rise, fresh out of school but needed to brand and market myself better. Also be in a place I didn’t want to get away from. I felt like I needed to have all bases covered for brand/content creating. I wanted to do what I love, learn more about branding and marketing, take quality images and create amazing affordable products. I basically needed to have everything at my fingertips. The Studio to me was more than just a hair company or salon; it is a premier studio that serves a diverse customer market within the cosmetology industry. The studio solves a problem. My vision is to help other beauty professionals build their brands and help them develop the best marketing, branding and products for their own niche and tribe.
This has not been a smooth road. I have been styling hair since I was 9. I attended beauty school at the Redken Academy in 2014 and graduated in 2015. I was also a full-time student at the University of Incarnate Word in San Antonio Texas. During this time I was working nights as a CNA and taking care of elderly men and women in assisted living facilities to pay my bills. I still did hair at home and traveled to my clients as well. During that time I was only getting 2-3 hours of sleep. I was put on academic probation and was two months behind on my car payment. I was successful in beauty school and passed my state board test. I was the first black female to graduate from my academy since it was built in 2012. I stayed focused and got my license in spite of all the financial hardship and lack of rest. So this goal for Style Studio is to save upcoming stylist and beauty professionals the trouble of having to figure out everything the hard way and save them time and money after graduating from beauty school. Style Studio will have the tools needed for recent graduates, up and coming beauty professionals and seasoned professionals as well. I’m very grateful for my struggle and success. Every circumstance helped me gather the knowledge and tools I needed to fulfill the needs of other beauty professionals. This company is built on faith, resilience and my passion to help people.
J Valencia wears multiple hats I am the CEO, a master stylist, consultant, an educator, a public speaker, author, podcast host and I build systems for beauty professionals to succeed. Behind the chair, I specialize in healthy hair care. I am known for creating an inner feeling of beauty that my clients don’t experience outside the studio. As a company, I am most proud of the growth and the expansion of resources developing within the business to help as many professionals as possible. I am passionate about helping people succeed and live full lives while pursuing their passion. What sets us apart as a company is Diversity and Authenticity within the beauty culture.
Over the next ten years, beauty professionals within the industry will seek us for the latest trends, educational content and brand strategizing. We are shifting the culture of the traditional salon environment and we’re creating the ultimate beauty experience inside our premier studio.
