Today we’d like to introduce you to Victoria Foreman.
Hi Victoria, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My story begins as being a young impressionable black girl whose love for fashion showed her a different way to view not only herself but the world!
Growing up in a small rural town in Tennessee, there seemed to be no room for people who looked like me to do more than just blend in. But there was something pushing me to stand out, to create what wasn’t being shown as accessible!
Often times I would see the girls at my school with the latest fashions, but my mom was not going for fashionable; she went with “does it fit”. As my growing body couldn’t and wouldn’t slow down for 1 single semester to properly fit anything. So my clothes were frumpy. My hair was finally bouncing back from a near-fatal relaxer in the middle of 5th and 6th grade. Talk about low self-esteem and lack of confidence.
I attempted to combat the feeling of being left out in middle school and high school by attempting to create the clothes that were popular for myself. That is how the upcycling portion of my journey began.
Modeling:
Over time I developed a love for modeling, as I attempted to go for auditions there were often stipulations on height, weight, etc., so often times I’d feel defeated before the audition began. After getting the opportunity to walk in fashion shows created by college friends, I realized, this was something that I did better than the models chosen. From those early college days, I decided to never be so quick to turn others down if they were capable. I wanted to provide opportunities for those who truly wanted them! Walking on the runway was so freeing, and I was actually good at it!
Stylist and More
My styling career started in the height of the 2020 pandemic. I wanted to work with photographers in the city of Atlanta and was able to secure my first gig. Because of my background in modeling, I used knowledge to build out looks for my client for a reasonable amount. That day I texted another photographer about working and casually added Victoria Styles, and from there my brand was born!
Two years later, I’ve officially quit my job to pursue my dreams of entrepreneurship and creating a community of women to sustain and retain healthy relationships amongst one another. I have helped several clients and brands build their portfolios with classic pieces! I also work with building the confidence in making choices. Although I know what may look best, building up my clients in their confidence is also very vital in my services.
Not only am I a stylist but an experience curator! I’ve curated events that build community and conversations within an intimate setting to not only inspire but to put pressure on change through direct impact. These experiences will vary, but they will always include good food, great conversations, and good vibes! This series of meetups is called “The Fearless Brunch”.
When you become FEARLESS your Life becomes LIMITLESS” – Anonymous
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The road has not and will not be easy. I believe it is ignorant to walk into entrepreneurship solely thinking that it is. However, with time like Most other life changes..the right mindset can change how you push through those obstacles.
Honestly, I have been my biggest obstacle. Belief in myself, that it can be done, that it has to be done, and that right now, it needs to be me.
Once I tapped into meditation while awake or asleep and becoming aware of what was seeping into my mind, everything changed for me. Over four years ago, I did listen to motivational tapes that tapped into my little voice in my head. I began changing that conversation within myself and overriding those thoughts.
That alone has changed the game for me in every way!
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am a stylist here in Atlanta and an experience curator. I specialize in building portfolios for brands and also the everyday person who needs assistance in shopping. I’m known for my personal styling and relationship-building.
I am most proud of the relationships that I am able to retain through these projects and go beyond client/stylist but to friendships and partnerships.
1 thing that I believe sets me apart is just being myself everywhere I go. From online to in-person, I will not change to fit anyone else’s idea of who I should be.
If you had to, what characteristic of yours would you give the most credit to?
Having success for me is dependent on my ambition to walk FEARLESSLY through life. There have been points in my life where I was paralyzed by fear. But God has been placing people in my life as reminders that “all things are possible”. If He is for me, who can be against me.
If you don’t see it, go create it! That idea or vision came to you for a reason, don’t sleep on it..activate it!
I want anyone and everyone to know that it really is possible! Beyond belief, there must be action taken to complete the vision!
