Today we’d like to introduce you to Victoria Hassoun.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I have always loved art ever since I was little. Doing it and being an observer of art. About five years ago, I started an apprenticeship in Newnan and then, I started tattooing at the shop I am at now. The whole time, I was in school paying my own way by working. I eventually changed my major after I got my associates in psychology to BFA in ceramics at UWG and I am still working on that degree right now expanding my portfolio in all mediums of art. I love tattooing, the history of it and making people feel good about themselves.
Has it been a smooth road?
At first, my family didn’t think I should be in the tattoo industry they didn’t really understand the things you have to do in an apprenticeship and didn’t show much support. When they saw I was going to actually make it and started to understand the industry more, they showed support.
I eventually moved to south ATL and found the shop I am at now, the other half tattoos, that has a nice and healthier environment.
With going to school full time and working full time, that is extremely stressful with any job you can get drained real quick. I had my cousin pass away within my first year of tattooing which made me extremely depressed.
So, as you know, we’re impressed with Tattoos by Victoria – tell our readers more, for example, what you’re most proud of and what sets you apart from others.
I do tattoos, I am a woman who does tattoos I think that’s pretty cool in a male-dominated industry. I love to do color tattoos I would say my style is close to “traditional/neo-traditional” tattoos.
Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
The different people and cultures that come together in the city is awesome but the traffic is crazy.
