Meet Sarah Illeana Martinez of Views From The Shutter in North of Atlanta

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sarah Illeana Martinez.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Sarah. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
Ever since I took an Introduction to Media Techniques class in college, I fell in love with digital photography. Ever since that class I’ve been trying to hustle photoshoots, business opportunities that involve photography, and worked my way into real estate photography, and social media marketing, which I do now.

I love anything creative; I’ve made brochures, mailing cards, flyers, press passes for my school’s newspaper, and created blogs on multiple websites, including my own, viewsfromtheshutter.com. I love anything that allows me to not only express my creativity but helps me connect with other people and help them in any way I can.

I’m hoping that with my Communications in Media and Journalism degree I’m working on, I’ll be able to help people and be creative every day.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
It’s usually never easy. I worked in the restaurant industry since High School, constantly attempting to find other jobs that made good money and can help put me through school/pay for all my bills. I didn’t go to college for the first two years after I graduated High School, working at a restaurant, and it’s tough sometimes.

Restaurant industry can really wear you down physically, emotionally, and mentally. I struggled with anxiety and depression for a while, realizing that my stressful job was not only making it worse but not helping me succeed in what I was really passionate about.

I soon left it behind, trying to focus on my photography business, made a photoshoot or two every month, but not enough to pay the bills. So, I found another job, and photography became more of a hobby again, which was somewhat frustrating because I would love to do that full time instead.

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Views From The Shutter story. Tell us more about the business.
My personal business, Views From The Shutter, is all about photography. Whether it’s your first time getting a photoshoot done, an engagement shoot, baby shower, or photos to spruce up your modeling portfolio, I try to help you not only look amazing in photos but feel confident, showing you the true beauty that you hold within yourself.

Doing photoshoots with me is not only fun, but you get to bring whatever ideas you want to the table. You can tell me whatever vibe you want, color scheme, theme, etc, that you want, and I will do my best to make it for you, and we’ll have a blast doing it.

Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
I’m not sure if there’s such thing as luck, but I did win a 2019 Harley Davidson Motorcycle this year, which is pretty badass.

As far as my business luck, I do wish I was busier to where I can do my freelance photography full time, but unfortunately, I haven’t booked enough photoshoots to make it my full-time job. I do other part-time jobs to support myself and pay the bills.
