Today we’d like to introduce you to Yiwen Lu.
Yiwen is a Taiwanese born, Atlanta based graphic designer with a passion for colors, typography, and illustration. Her style is playful, fun, and contemporary. She pays very close attention to detail and considers every facet of her work to ensure a strong concept that is the perfect fit for every project. Yiwen specializes in branding, print design, and package design and holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Graphic Design from the Academy of Art University, San Francisco.
Has it been a smooth road?
My journey has been pretty smooth. I have been very fortunate to work with talented and amazing people who inspire me to be a better designer and person. Even though there were challenges along the way but it also comes with growth.
Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and career?
We always need a bit of luck in order have a great career, but what’s more important than luck is a positive attitude to learn from mistakes and experience so you are able to move forward after luck opens the door for you. 4 months ago I was very lucky to get an interview with Coca-Cola and was hired right after it. I believe luck wasn’t the only thing that got me hired, it was also the potential they saw in me from all these years of learning from mistakes and evolving.
Do you feel like there are certain traits that increase the likelihood of success?
An open and positive mind, also to be adaptable in any situations and environments. I have moved 8000 miles from another continent to live in the States, lived in 4 very different cities the 15 years I have been in the States, but I’ve always adjusted very quickly and find the best side of everything and learn to love it. Passion is also very important. You have to love what you do that way you can get the best out of you.
Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
I love the diversity, nature, the restaurant scene. I know I am not the first one to say, but traffic is what I like least about Atlanta 😉
