Today we’d like to introduce you to Vivian Smith.
Hi Vivian, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
This Journey began for me 4 years ago, when I resided in stone Mountain, GA. It began with me and my cousin, doing small gatherings and event hall decorations, for friends and associates. The supportive aspect of word of mouth and recommendations about out work came into play. The small knowledge we had from previous experiences, carried us over for a while. The demand for our service grew, but we were lacking the key foundations needed to take business to the next level. We knew to make this work, financial sacrifices were gonna have to be made. My cousin and I took up numerous jobs for a whole year to raise the funds needed to grow our business. We gradually purchased all equipment needed and things were actually beginning to change for the positive for us. That quickly came to a grinding halt when now faced with the world going through the covid pandemic. Disappointed and discouraged, we were almost at the quitting point. But in that moment we realized we had come too far to stop now, no matter what. With the spirit of determination, we decided to perfect our craft. We learned different techniques on creating beautiful designs and unique pieces, and I also got blessed with beautiful bundle of joy during quarantine. The world was facing a challenging time, and from everything we learned through that challenge, we wanted to spread that knowledge to the highly impacted and less fortunate communities. We decided to do so, with the help of our close family friend and mentor, by starting a domestic non-profit organization, using that as our platform to give back.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
This journey has been long and arduous and has been everything but a smooth ride. There have been mistakes made, lessons learned, and of course a great expansion of knowledge and experience. Part or the challenges I would say I experienced getting started was just even getting support from even my family members and friends, who failed to understand my visions and goals. I can recall countless times where windows and doors of opportunity have been shut in my face, Through those adversities, the thoughts of just giving up and accepting my losses have crossed my mind countless times and were starting to become imminent. Through the constant lack of encouragement, I realized in that moment, that I was destined for this path. My burning passion and ambition to get better is never going to be extinguished. I’m grateful for my challenges because they have expanded my problem-solving abilities and my perception of dealing with obstacles.
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Lovely Events and party Rental and Care 4 Us Inc?
My cousin (Lovetee) and I have an Events and Party Rental, where we make your special day less stressful for you, we take care of all the setup and break down of all the decorations including the tables cloths, chairs cover, tables runner chairs sash, centerpiece, backdrop, balloons Garden, etc …. We also do party Rentals like the chairs, tables, tent, bouncy house and many more. Under that same umbrella we have a nonprofit, call Care 4 Us. What matters most to you? Why?
What matters most for me is to be able to teach and educate the new generation, on never giving up, even when the road gets hard. If your journey is not taking you to the destination you want to go or putting you in the space you’d like to be, remember why you started and your end goal. Be open to room for improvement and keep going. Don’t pay attention to the negativities and the discouragement you’re going to face Keep pushing.
