Meet Wahid Gomes of Verde Music Group in Roswell

Today we’d like to introduce you to Wahid Gomes.

Wahid, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
As a child growing up in New England, I was always intrigued by music. I grew up listening to jazz, blues, funk, and R&B. You could always find me in the streets, break-dancing and emulating the hip-hop acts of that time. In elementary and junior high schools, I played drums and guitar in the school bands.

Shortly after that, me and my rap group, Tremble & Bass, were unable to find a suitable DJ, so I offered to take on the role for the group. After honing my skills as a DJ, I quickly gained notoriety spinning at parties, clubs, and weddings. Armed with my turntables and a keyboard, I started programming music for my group and numerous other local acts.

In 2001, I had the great fortune of starting my Internship at Embryo Records in Las Vegas. During that time, I was enrolled in an advance Audio Engineering and Protools course under the watchful eye of Tom Parham. Some of my production credits at that time included NBA star Tyrone Nesby, BMX champion TJ Lavin, and R&B artist extraordinaire Reno McFarland. I also worked closely with legendary composer and songwriter Gary Picus.

One day I was in Studio B in Vegas producing some original music, and the late Jimmy Castor arrived for a session in Studio A. As he walked by, he stopped and quietly listened to my music for a few minutes and then told me, “That song is a hit!” Can you image how that made me feel?

In 2014, I founded my Publishing Company; Verde Music Group LLC. My intention is to give my ever-growing list of extremely talented Writers, Composers, Producers & Musicians and friends a creative environment to call home…

Has it been a smooth road?
I think the most challenging thing for me and most business owners is having access to cash or lines of credit. It’s very difficult to run a business successfully with minimal cash flow. Somehow, we get by every month and keep pushing forward through all the growing pains. What keeps me going is my faith in GOD and my bullish determination to succeed! I also have to give credit to my amazing and hardworking team. I could not operate at this level without them, they inspire me!

Not to mention that every day, I get to work with creative people from all walks of life who trust us with their creative expression. We have worked with children from the tender age of 5, all the way up to the most energetic seniors. We have clients from fortune 500 companies, down to your local aspiring artist. We even have clients as far as Africa!

You just never know who will call on any given day. Energy is energy no matter where in the world it is…
