Today we’d like to introduce you to Waleska Davie-Bonet.
Waleska, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I’ve always felt that the world of esthetics almost found me in a way. My original goal was to attend graduate school and pursue Art Therapy after graduating from UGA, but it seems that was not meant to be. My focus was always to find a way to help others and in school, I had planned to do it thru art. Who knew that the art was actually a way of learning about myself and my soul in order to grow and develop. Art allowed me to be expressive, to be free and open to life.
It would be 8 more years and some time as a MAC makeup artist before, I finally decided to explore schools for esthetics. In 2005, I started going to the Atlanta Institute for Esthetics in Dunwoody. It gave me a deeper sense of purpose to know that I had the ability to help individuals who were seeking ways to take care of themselves and their bodies. It also made me realize how many people were unaware of how beautiful they were on the inside.
Inner beauty and body positivity became an important part of my thought process. I knew if I could provide a private and safe environment for people, they would grow to understand and honor who they were as individuals. Even if it was just for that moment or for that appointment.
I began taking metaphysical healing classes and reiki which shifted the entire energy of my work towards something more profound. I realized Inner Beauty Esthetics was more than a small, boutique in home business to get your esthetic services done. It was a place of friendship, healing and strength. It became more than I ever thought possible. I love what I do. It’s an extension of myself and something I get to share every day. It’s a blessing I’m thankful for every day.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
I believe with any business there are always obstacles and challenges, but I will say that when you are focusing on something that you truly love, the road is not quite so bumpy. The one thing that would creep up was always fear. Fear of not fitting into the community, fear of not having enough resources to provide everything I had to offer, fear of not having enough clients. I took that fear and used it as a challenge. I knew my heart and I knew my vision and fear had no part in it. I chose a path of love and was blessed with what I have today.
So, let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Inner Beauty Esthetics story. Tell us more about the business.
Inner Beauty is a small, boutique experience skin care and waxing studio. I specialize in custom facials, peels, waxing, Celluma LED light therapy, foot reflexology, spray tanning and Regenerate micro channeling. I would say I am most known for my facials which are results oriented but have a strong healing element to them and my waxing services. As a company, I am most proud of being able to grow my business into what it is today from having nothing in the beginning. It has been instrumental in my own personal growth as well others. The studio provides clients with the opportunity to unwind, relax and find some much-needed time for themselves. It’s quiet, serene and only one client shares the space with me at a time. It truly is a custom experience.
Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
I have always felt that certain people come into your life just at the right time for a reason. Many of my first clients were so instrumental in helping my business grow. They came regularly and referred their friends to me and things just grew from there. I’ve also had extreme good luck finding unique things to decorate my space without having to spend a fortune. This has given me a chance to save up and get new modalities and additions to my business.
