Meet Craig Bleakley of Waterworks Atlanta in Woodstock

Today we’d like to introduce you to Craig Bleakley.

Craig, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
Waterworks started in 1986 as a swimming pool sales firm within the first 12 months we were asked to design and build pools in addition to selling equipment.

By 1989, our focus had shifted to primarily pool construction and the equipment sales division was phased out. After 31 years of experience, Waterworks is one of the largest commercial pool contractors in the Southeast.

Waterworks continues as an industry leader and has recently opened a sister company called WaterDesign, a pool and water feature design and consulting company with clients all across the United States.

Has it been a smooth road?
As a commercial contractor, the ability to provide Payment & Performance Bonds is critical. In the early days, we were unable to bond projects. In the early 90’s, we bonded our first project at a $500,000 level. Today, we are able to bond up to $10,000,000 worth of projects at one time. Your bond capacity is a direct reflection that the business, its people and its profitability.

We’d love to hear more about your business.
Waterworks is a commercial pool, water park and water feature contractor. We helped build the Olympic pools at Georgia Tech. We have constructed aquatic centers all over the Southeast. We have designed and built the world largest splash pad. Today, Waterworks is considered the “Go To” firm for large and difficult projects.

Is our city a good place to do what you do?
Yes, Atlanta is an excellent to start a business. I moved from the Midwest in early 1986 and the plan from day one was to start a business in Atlanta. We closely monitor activities in other major cities such as Tampa and Nashville and I can assure that Tampa has more than 10 times the construction potential than any other city in the region.
