Meet Wayne Hunnit of Wayne’s Work in DeKalb County

Today we’d like to introduce you to Wayne Hunnit.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Wayne. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I started my photography journey two years ago (April 2017). I began that year in a very depressive state. Was inspired by the movie: The Perfect Match because I was able to relate to the feeling of being down & out and wanted to bounce back by taking advantage of something I’ve always been gifted at which was capturing the best moments. So, I invested in my first camera (Canon Rebel T6) and what started as a hobby quickly turned profit & became a passion. Started off doing street photography to doing proms, birthday events, and a wedding. Then, I started to shoot with models and do more portraiture work which quickly became my favorite. I love the idea of working with someone or a group of people to bring any particular vision to life and be creative as you want to do so.

Has it been a smooth road?
For the most part, it’s been pretty smooth but definitely not perfect or without challenges. It’s something new you’re trying and getting into so you’re gonna go through rough patches and have your struggles like anything else. I haven’t really had to deal with like equipment breaking or anything like that as setbacks. For me, the challenges were more mental because you’re dealing with trying to work with others and that’s not gonna always be a smooth process. Easy to get frustrated when people cancel on you, don’t communicate, schedules don’t align for shoots, bad weather, trying to get new clients, etc. But I’ve still managed to be consistent with my work & constantly evolve along the way.

Please tell us more about your work, what you are currently focused on and most proud of.
I simply provide next-level visions for anyone in need of my services or want to experience working with me. I specialize in Portraiture, mainly fashion & lifestyle. I’m known for my urban street style shoots and telling the best stories thru my work. I take so many dope shots when I do shoots and people would always say my work look like it belonged in a magazine so I came up with the idea “Wayne’s Work Wednesday.” It consisted of me creatively putting together a collection of pictures from a shoot in my own storytelling/magazine way labeled as HUNNIT MAG. I would post/highlight them on Wednesday’s in my Instagram stories. I think my ability to always have a unique and different perspective than the norm is what sets me apart from others.

Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
Well, I’m from the D.C. (Maryland) Virginia area and recently just moved to this city to continue capitalizing on my passions. So, I can’t really speak to what I really dislike at this point, but I like the creative community and all the opportunities that exist for artists/entrepreneurs.
