Today we’d like to introduce you to Wendy Seabolt.
Hi Wendy, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I spent about 16 years as a dental hygienist and absolutely loved caring for people, but over time I felt my personal and professional growth had become limited. I wanted a path that would allow me to be more independent while still helping people in a meaningful way. Because I had a background in banking, I decided to explore mortgage loan originating.
Very quickly, I discovered how fulfilling it was to help people reach milestones like homeownership and to guide them through financial challenges. After starting on the retail side of the mortgage industry, I transitioned to the broker side – which opened a whole new world. Having access to multiple wholesale lenders allowed me to shop for better rates, terms, and solutions for my clients, and I realized I wanted even more control over the experience and the energy I brought to my work.
After a lot of prayer and consideration, I felt led to open my own brokerage. It was both exciting and intimidating, but my approval came quickly, and launching Mortgage Outfitters has turned out to be the most successful and rewarding chapter of my career so far. I’m incredibly grateful for the opportunities this business has created and look forward to continued growth and professional development.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. Transitioning from a steady salaried position into a full-commission role was a major shock, especially in an industry built on referrals, guidelines, and strict regulations. The retail side gave me helpful “guide rails,” but when the market shifted, it no longer offered the competitive options my clients needed. Moving to the broker side felt like learning the industry all over again and with far less support and much more self-reliance. I had to deep-dive on my own to fully understand wholesale lending and feel confident.
Then, stepping out to open my own brokerage brought yet another layer of learning. With even fewer safety nets and more responsibility, I had to master both the mortgage industry and the realities of business ownership. It was challenging, but through prayer, faith, and a strong support system, I pushed through each stage. Every challenge has made me better, and that constant growth is ultimately what makes this journey so rewarding.

Mortgage Outfitters is a mortgage brokerage that partners with a wide network of wholesale lenders, allowing me to offer a range of programs tailored to each client’s unique needs. When someone calls my business, they speak directly with me. I’m hands-on from the first conversation to the closing table, offering personalized guidance every step of the way. There’s no scenario too large, too small, or too complicated for me to work through. If none of my wholesale partners have a solution, I collaborate with my banking partners and retail loan officer contacts to find an answer. And if a client needs time or support to become “mortgage-ready,” I walk them through that process as well. My customers share their goals, and we become partners in making those goals a reality.
What I’m most proud of is that Mortgage Outfitters is a Christ-centered company – a foundation that guides how I serve, support, and care for every client I work with.
What are your plans for the future?
I’m currently planning to expand into additional states and eventually grow Mortgage Outfitters by bringing on mortgage loan officers who share the same focus, values, and energy. I’m excited for the opportunity to serve more families, build a strong team, and continue growing in the direction I feel led.
