Today we’d like to introduce you to Whitney Berry and Natalie Singletary.
Whitney always wanted to be a business owner and fell in love with the Pure Barre concept after taking her first class at the Dunwoody studio in February of 2013. Here wheels quickly started turning and she was determined to bring the “one of a kind” Pure Barre workout to Macon, GA. While hiring her team in Macon, she met Natalie, who would become one of her original teachers at the studio which opened in September 2013. Natalie, a former high school Spanish teacher, became so passionate about Pure Barre, that she too wanted to share the Pure Barre love and began to consider opening a studio as well.
Together, Whitney and Natalie decided the West Cobb market in Marietta would be a wonderful location for their venture together. Pure Barre West Cobb opened in November of 2015 and the community embraced the studio with open arms. As the community continued to grow, Whitney and Natalie again decided it was time to grow and spread the love and encouraging environment to the Woodstock area, opening Pure Barre Woodstock in September of 2017.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
As with any new adventure, there are always a few bumps and curves along the way.
Things are not always smooth, but the mindset to always put things into perspective has helped to take all of the business owners with a grain of salt and bask in all the bright days.
Natalie and Whitney are constantly reminded “this is why we do this” with each client testimonial, newcomers who have their ” ah ha” moment, and the vast growth they have seen in the STRONG communities created within the walls of their Pure Barre studios.
Pure Barre West Cobb and Pure Barre Woodstock – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
Pure Barre has 2 class offerings. Pure Barre Classic focuses on the creation of long and lean muscles, while the other- Empower, is a cardio-centric class focusing on giving clients a complete cardio workout while also toning throughout the class. Pure Barre is truly a one of a kind workout that targets each muscle group to a point of fatigue and then immediately stretches the muscles to create a long and lean muscle as opposed to creating bulk.
Though Pure Barre is an incredible workout, Whitney and Natalie are most proud of the communities created within their studios. The clients of their studios have quickly become an extended family. Clients have the opportunity to get to know each other and help celebrate milestones in each other’s journey both in and away from the studio.
Natalie and Whitney constantly have a front seat view of lives changes and their clients finding the best version of themselves!
What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
Our proudest moment was this year hosting our 2nd annual Benefit at the Barre for Children’s Hospital of Atlanta.
In one day, our West Cobb studio was able to host 5 full classes and raised over $4,000 for this amazing organization in memory of Emily Elizabeth Clark. Emily was the daughter of their West Cobb client, Kathy Clark, she was one of five Georgia Southern nursing students who tragically lost their lives in an automobile accident on their way to their last day of clinical rotations at Savannah’s Saint Joseph’s Candler Hospital.
These young ladies where all Junior Nursing Students who planned to spend their lives helping others through their chosen profession. Early on the morning of April 22, 2015, while stopped in traffic on I-16 in Bryan County a tractor-trailer truck struck the rear of Emily’s stopped the car at 70MPH.
Emily had a passion for kids and had shared she wanted to either work in Pediatric Oncology or in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. In an effort to honor Emily and her passion for children, an endowment has been set up through Children’s Health Care of Atlanta as the “Emily Elizabeth Clark Endowment Fund”. Emily would have wanted to do everything possible to help every child. We are asking for your support, no amount is too little, and every cent will go to help the children in these units.
Children’s continues to do remarkable things in the lives of every family that walks through their doors, and with this endowment, Emily continues to help children. This special event is absolutely amazing because it pulls everyone together with their passion for Pure Barre to support an amazing cause and continue the legacy of Emily.
