Meet Whitney Code of Atlanta

Today we’d like to introduce you to Whitney Code

Whitney, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Being a creative started since I was a kid Born and raised in Ohio.. I started with tap dancing at the age of 5 yrs old, started writing stories with chapters in notebooks, acting in drama club in school, cheerleading and then choir all before moving to Atlanta with family. I finished high school in McDonough, Ga and from there I went to college to become a dental professional. Practicing dental is a passion of mine as I’m able to pour back into the community by helping others understand the importance of their dental health.

While leaving school one day, I seen a billboard saying come audition for chance to sign with an agency if you’d like to be the next big star! I’m driving so I took a picture of the billboard and keep going. Everyone always said I had the personality to be on tv and I personally love bringing joy to people so I said why not! I took a leap prepared and submitted myself; I signed with my first agent after performing in a showcase back in 2014.

Unfortunately I took a break shortly after for a year and a half as I was focusing on securing my career in Dental. I started modeling more as I was actively working in the dental office but I came back into acting with more intent and consistency around 2016-2017. From then on I started taking acting classes every weekend and have worked with some extraordinary Productions, directors, actors, crew members and creatives from B. E. T, Tubi, UrbanFlixTv, YouTube, and Instagram who have added so much to my journey!

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It hasn’t been an extremely tough road for me but some of the struggles I faced along the way were understanding my own power and owning it confidently. Believing that I am where I’m suppose to be and I am what everyone sees me as..which is effortlessly talented, beautiful, creative, funny and strong actor who is one of a kind. Understanding that I belong in the rooms I have stepped into. Many artist could agree that there are times when we truly don’t see our own talent and believe we could be doing way more or what we have accomplished isn’t much to brag about but In reality we’ve done more than the average person and that takes courage.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I’m an “Actor”…. No not an actress as I can play any role. I’m a creative who creates content online. I sing and model.

What project am I proud of the most?? I’ll say my film featured on B. E. T. Her Series “The Couch”: Titled Behind The Smile which is about a woman with vitiligo stepping into her dream job but has difficulty in her role as the producers want her to cover her vitiligo to blend in more.

This is by far is one of my favorites as I was able to represent for the vitiligo community in a positive light; I was also highlighting mental struggles woman face on a day to day to fit into the narrative of others. I’ve done more projects but this movie is by far the one I’m most proud of because at a point before getting deep in to my career I was worried about being accepted into the film world with vitiligo. I don’t look like the average person and there was a point when it was still essentially taboo or barely accepted unless it was in the fashion world. That was produced by MegaMindsMedia, Directed by Naturi Naughton and written by Lori Ray.

This year alone 2024 I have filmed 4 films that will be out very soon; two of those movies I am the leading lady! While acting professionally full time, I took a dive into creating content online with my friends that started in 2021. I started filming with Jamal The Creative doing series and skits online, along with Chase and Melo and more creatives to name!

What sets me apart from others you ask…? I keep God as my guide, I always follow my heart and instincts. I’m not willing to sell myself just to “make it” or be accepted. Other than that I’ll leave to the people to decide that; as I’m authentically myself. There’s more that I’m looking to explore within myself that involves all my talents. I plan to share them with the world which means there’s much more to expect from me coming soon!

We’d be interested to hear your thoughts on luck and what role, if any, you feel it’s played for you?
I don’t believe luck has played a part in my life. I’m very intentional. My Faith in God and working hard for what I want in life has definitely set me up for success! There’s a saying that you create the life you live and I believe in that whole heartedly.
