Meet Whitney Tyler of Natural Lashes in Johns Creek

Today we’d like to introduce you to Whitney Tyler.

Whitney, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I am a native of Detroit Michigan. I moved to Atlanta, GA in 2007.

Beauty has always been a passion of mine but engineering was also dear to my heart. I attended Howard University in Washington DC, graduated with a Bachelors of Science in Civil Engineering and worked as a Traffic Engineer for 8 years. I decided to take an eyelash extensions training, just as a side job, but little did I know it would turn into my new career. Now a certified lash stylist, I began my home business on the weekends, while working as an engineer during the week. Six months later, I knew this was my passion and purpose. I stepped out on faith, quit my job as an engineer and began working full time at an eyebrow salon. While working at the salon was very comfortable for me, a shift led me to own a suite and enter the world of entrepreneurship six months later. Natural Lashes Salon was birthed. I decided to continue my education in this field and I became a licensed esthetician. I truly believe that “if your eyebrows and eyelashes are groomed beautifully, you can conquer anything!” I know that God and my faith have brought me this far and I believe that He has not brought me this far to leave me now!

Has it been a smooth road?
No, it has not been a smooth road but you know, I wouldn’t have it any other way! The struggles and obstacles I have faced have made me a stronger and wiser entrepreneur. One struggle I faced was not believing in myself. I had to get out of my own way, stop comparing my story to other lash artists, and start believing what is for me will be for me. Another obstacle I have faced is trying to change the mindset of potential clients that had a previous bad experience with eyelash extensions. I have learned that taking the proper time to educate my clients on eyelash extensions gives them a better perspective of the service and clients appreciate that time and information. This industry is still new to many people, so the more information I can give clients eases their minds.

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Natural Lashes story. Tell us more about the business.
Natural Lashes is Johns Creek’s newest lash and brow loft. Providing healthy eyelash extension services and brow sculpting services that will enhance the natural beauty you already possess. The quality and level of service you will receive at Natural Lashes will prove our passion and dedication to this industry and to you!

The mission of Natural Lashes is to inspire and create a fearless confidence in your natural beauty. Lashes and brows can do so much for your face, making you look bright and fresh!

What I feel sets Natural Lashes apart is my ability to provide a relaxing environment while educating my clients. Eyelash extensions are somewhat of a luxury to most and I want my clients to feel great inside and out. I don’t want them to feel they are at Natural Lashes just for a service. I want them to feel they are at Natural Lashes for an experience! I believe my level of service defines the grateful attitude of Natural Lashes. There would be no Natural Lashes without my clients!

How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
We have already started to experience the shift in the importance of lashes and brows. That’s all you hear about in the beauty industry. I believe this industry will grow to become huge like the nail industry has become. With the growth of the eyelash extensions industry, myself and other lash artists must work hard to keep the integrity of the service.
