Meet Will Hill

Today we’d like to introduce you to Will Hill.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Will. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I was born in Chicago and raised in the suburbs of Atlanta. At a very young age, I was interested in music and my taste in music was shaped by my mom and my older sister, Aisha. My mom mainly listened to old school music and my sister was listening to the new music on the radio of course. The first song I remembered the words to was Elevators by Outkast.

The album that changed my life forever though was the “Black Album” by Jay-Z. My mom got that album and played it one day when she picked me up. The way that “What More Can I Say” came on with the Gladiator intro, made me feel like I had never felt from music. From that day on, Jay-Z has been my favorite rapper.

In high school, I had a multimedia class that had a Mac computer in the back. Me and a couple homies used to record random songs on Garage Band back then and thats when I started experimenting with music. Me and my homie Fernando started a duo and I set up a studio in the basement at my mom’s house for us to record. Not too long after that, we linked up with my homie Perry (aka “Perrion” aka “Perry Illest”). Perry was a bit more experienced with the music because he had produced records for his older brother Preview, so we would go over to Perry’s crib to record and just sit in on sessions too. At that point, we both joined HOME Team (High Off Music Entertainment), which consisted of Perry, Preview, S’Natra, MSTR THMS, 700, T-Shyne, etc.

When I got to college, I started rapping a bit more serious and started to try and find my own lane in music. In 2013, I released Ramadan and I began to gain more attention and received more support from my peers. After releasing multiple projects and songs, as well as going on hiatus and trying to find my identity as an artist, I feel like I have a firm grasp on who I am and what I need to do. I believe 2019 is going to solidify that for me.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Nothing in life is ever completely smooth. I’ve had obstacles, challenges, I’ve doubted myself, contemplated quitting music altogether, etc. The thing about facing obstacles is that they make you stronger when you come out on the other side. When you put your head down and grind, you feel so much more accomplished in the end and you’ve beaten all the odds. I speak for/to the people that have ambitions and want to do things with their lives. It’s not an easy road, but we gotta get it done if we want to be successful.

Please tell us about Will Hill.
I am a musician/businessman. I rap, I recently started producing, I co-own a clothing company (Atlantafornia), I also co-own a used car company (AutoMate Auto Brokers) and I have a couple other endeavors that I’m currently working on. I want to continue to build businesses and create more opportunities for myself and the people around me. I want to create an empire and I will get it done.

Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
I can’t pick one specific childhood memory that is a favorite of mine. Honestly, my favorite thing about my childhood is how it has molded me to become the person I am today. I had good times, I had bad times, but ultimately I was put in positions that make my life possible to be what it is today. I want to thank everyone that was a part of me growing up and shaping me into who I am.
