Meet William LaVant

Today we’d like to introduce you to William LaVant.

William, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I was born and raised in Jacksonville, Florida on March 7, 1995. Times were not always easy growing up. I suffered severe repetitive asthma attacks and was hospitalized as an infant. “It seems like there was a tug of war over my life before I was born, my mother fell on her stomach while she was pregnant with me in an abusive relationship, and the doctors announced I was to be born prematurely with physical issues, but Jesus covered me.” I didn’t realize I began ministry at a young age the first time I ever sang was in my Grandfather’s church at the age of four. As I grew older, I started becoming more artistic in designing, drawing, dancing, but out of all the talents, my gift, and the biggest dream was to sing.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I remember growing up not always having the best, but somehow always had what I needed. Some days there would be no food in the house, and we only had faucet water to drink. Lights would be off and spent days here and there living by candlelight & outside air (if the wind decided to blow). Days without transportation, having to walk or catch the bus to wherever I needed to go. Scraping up pennies & change around the house, sometimes having to write an “iou” just for food to eat. And whoever knew all of that was not in vain because now, just in case hard times come again (God Forbid) the same favor that kept me through those times, is keeping me now & I’ll still know how to handle it.

William LaVant – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
Of course, I’m a recording artist, songwriter. Released my debut project worldwide in 2017 titled “Unpredictable.” Traveling the world leading worship since the official age of 16. I’m most proud of my approach to the music I release causes any race, nationality or religion to just come together as one when they don’t even realize it. From the sounds & vibes I use to the style I wear, it shows that I care about each individual I’m singing to. Established my Graphic Design company in 2015 titled “WLGraphix.” Now scheduled to officially Launch my official unisex Fashion Line “Edictwear,” which also has a powerful meaning behind the name, it derived from my debut project name “UnprEDICTable.” And with the fashion line specifically, as a plus-size guy, I’m specializing in making sure my heavy set brothers & sisters (specifically brothers) are rocking their best style. If you’re gonna be big, look good and feel good doing it. And with this line I’m not putting out what people expect, I’m releasing the unpredictable, but it will take confidence to wear it the way it should be worn.

What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
Being on every Television broadcast station in my hometown, releasing my debut project “Unpredictable” and my new music “Fire’s Desire.” Also, singing the National Anthem for the biggest sports teams in my hometown. Performing in the major theaters in my hometown, and now traveling the world doing the exact thing I love to do, which is music. At the same time taking my brand along with me. It was very important that I lay heavy foundation of who I am in my hometown first before trying to show the world anything, and usually, you have to go around the world first then come back home, but I did it differently. Oh, and I ended up singing live with one of my favorite heavyweights in the music game, Le’Andria Johnson.
