Today we’d like to introduce you to William Riddick.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
My journey in photography started just four years ago, however my journey in Cinematography started at an early age of 13. At a young age, I worked for my church as a cameraman for the live broadcasting system and eventually worked my way up to Technical Director. Upon graduating High School, I moved to Mobile, AL to pursue and expand my knowledge in Cinematography at the University of South Alabama. My original intent was to get a film degree and use that as the door opener to get involved with acting. However, during my time at South Alabama, I had the opportunity to be a part of a Fashion Show hosted by one of the organizations on campus. The Fashion show opened my eyes to the various possibility in Modeling. This sparked my interest, as I seen it could be another door opener for the Film Industry. So, when I got my refund I brought me a camera to begin my modeling portfolio. After a few months with the camera I learned that I did like modeling, however I had a greater liking for being behind the camera as the photographer. One year later of getting my camera I being my journey as a freelance photography with Shotsbywill. I started with graduation photoshoots, but have since broadened my horizons to other styles of photography.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
I would love to say it has but nothing worth having comes easy. Over the course of growing my business to were it is now, I have dealt with a plethora of struggles. I’ve had some life struggles, financial struggles and even mental struggles. I think an important thing to take away is that the “Struggle” is an inevitable process. However, It is the “Struggle” that teaches you your best lessons. These lessons are what allows one to maintain once stable enough to no longer struggle. So once faced with struggles, I like to take them head-on because I see them as a part of the process to build and create a better me.

At Shots by Will we specialize in Cinematography and Photography. Our main focus at Shots by Will is to bring out our client’s unique personality as much as possibly.
