Today we’d like to introduce you to Willie Richie.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I was introduced to music at the age of 10, when I was enthralled with New Edition, Kool and the Gang and Jackson 5. Once I entered Junior High school I started doing local talent shows with my cousins. My whole family is musically inclined. Once I got to high school I formed a group called Ragg Tyme. We was a local group that gained the attention of Kevin Wales. Kevin came and watched our group perform and he then became our manager. This was around 1990 when Kevin developed and polished our look. Ragg Tyme performed locally around the city of Atlanta for years until the group decided to take different career paths but still remained brothers. I keep writing songs even after our group split up. I got reacquainted with Lil Will, another artist Kevin Wales managed. We started working together as he was recording songs I wrote. My songs and Lil Will gained the attention LA Reid, and Rico Wade….Organized Noize signed me as a writer in 1997. I wrote the song “Lookin for Nikki” by Lil Will featuring Cool Breeze, Better Days and The Low Low. I continued to work with numerous artist and producers in Atlanta, one of which is “Old Atlanta”. Now I’ve been hyper focused on stepping forward as an independent artist as I continue to create music that resonates with love, life and passion. My latest release “Sexy To The Floor” showcases my signature smooth vocals, groove-driven production and undeniable Southern Charm. From the studio to the stage, I remain true to my roots, writing from the heart, and singing from the soul and proving that real music never goes out of style,
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I overall feel its been a smooth road, however the reinvention takes more work and dedication.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I sing and write, writing is my specialty.
I’m most proud of my new work as a southern soul artist.
I think my unique voice and range set me apart and my producing and arranging talents.
