Meet Woody Martin of Photos By W in Midtown

Today we’d like to introduce you to Woody Martin.

Woody, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
Photography has been a passion that I have been working on for some time. It all started years ago when I received my first digital camera for my birthday. For years I have worked to master this interest to where in 2017, I launched Photos by W.

First few months of business I gave away countless clients free shoots to master all the aspects of photography. I honestly felt to be considered a “Professional Photographer” you must start with the basics!

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The road to success hasn’t been hard to ever make me want to give up, but it has given me the continuous level of energy. To keep learning, join meetups where other photographers share their skills and knowledge to help me grow my brand to what it is today.

One thing that has given me a run for my money is that the market is saturated with other photographers. I had to create something that made me different, that made me stand out from other photographers. After many sessions later, I finally found my niche… I was able to tell a person’s story… just from that one frame.

Photos By W – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
I specialize in natural light weddings, corporate branding, and lifestyle photography. I work with couples and families to capture their emotional interactions and the essences of their relationships. I’m known as the photographer who gives you way more than you pay for. Photography has been more about the art, the story, and the raw emotion caught in each frame.

When clients use my services, it’s more of an experience than just a photoshoot. I become “part of the family” as most would say it. The biggest accomplishment to date would be when I decided to become a partner at Studio APG on The Goat Farm in Midtown. I felt that it was a major investment in myself.

What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
Outside of being featured in VoyageATL twice, it would be when family and friends first found out that I launched my photography company. The outpour of love and support was beyond what I expected. There was never a level of doubt that I couldn’t produce quality work beyond anyone’s exception.
