Today we’d like to introduce you to Yancy Jones.
Yancy, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I’ve always been an athletic person and I’ve always had a passion for helping people. I made the decision to become a personal trainer to blend my two strongest traits together. I started by working to perfect my own body while I studied to become a Certified Personal Trainer and Nutrition Specialist at the National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM).
Everything I learned in my education at NASM assisted me on my own journey to personal health and wellness. I am now able to transform lives each day by providing customized nutrition plans and fitness regimens for all body types. I am passionate about my work and I love seeing my clients as they transition into the lifestyle of wellness.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
In any business endeavor there are struggles. I am resilient by design so I am not easily detoured by challenges.
When it comes to my clients I am perfectionist. I see the potential in them often times before they do, so I go above and beyond to ensure they remain motivated along the journey. This can be a struggle because changing your lifestyle is not an easy or overnight task.
I’ve learned over the years to be patient and persistent with my clients and eventually the level of resistance drops and they gain a new physical and mental perspective on life. That new outlook is invaluable and worth struggle along the way.
Please tell us about Yancy Jones Personal Training.
My company offers a wide variety of programs including weightloss, firming & toning, partner & family fitness, bootcamps, and youth programs. I am currently working to introduce online fitness programs as well.
I have transformed the lives of several hundred clients in my time as a trainer and my reputation online speaks to the level of my work. I have been awarded as best of Thumback for three consecutive years, 2015, 2016, and 2017.
Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
My childhood was filled with so many amazing memories. I grew up in Chicago and remember as a youth that each year my family was able to make the holidays a very special occasion with family, fun and gifts.
I have a young son and because of the success of my business I am able to create wonderful memories with him each day and ensure that during the holidays we are able to celebrate in the same way I did as a youth.
