Today we’d like to introduce you to Yolanda Owens.
Yolanda, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I grew up with my Grandmother who was a Home Remedy Queen. She never believed in buying any products from the store or over the counter. She would make all her products from ingredients from the kitchen or the garden. I was influenced by her and her home remedies. I graduated from college with a Computer Engineering Degree. I worked in Corporate America as a Network Engineer with fortune 500 companies.
I decided to step out on faith to pursue my passion for creating skincare products made with fruits, herbs, and vegetables. I created iwi fresh which means “it is what it is”. At iwi fresh, we partner with local farms and gardens, handpick and hand-juice to make raw skincare recipes.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Some of the struggles have been trusting in people to help your business. Finding good hard working people with good work-ethics. Another challenge is understanding “less is more” trying not to have so many products.

My business is a RAW, Fram-to-skin spa. We partner with local farms and handpick fresh fruit, veggies, and herbs. We juice them and make fresh skincare recipes.
I am most proud of my company is the first ‘Farm-to-Skin Products in Wholefoods Market in Ponce D Leon location.
What sets my business apart from others is we are RAW, our skincare products have an expiration date. We use fresh Farm ingredients.
What were you like growing up?
As a child I was an artsy little girl, I love dancing, drawing, and sewing, I was a very creative little girl. I use to love to do hair and nails. I was always a leader in everything I did.
