Meet Zana Hawleri of Hawleri Homes, LLC in Sandy Springs

Today we’d like to introduce you to Zana Hawleri.

Zana, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
My name is Zana and I have been in Atlanta since December of 2002. My family migrated here from Kurdistan. My mother brought us here to give us a better chance at life. My older sister graduated from UGA and my younger one graduated from GA Tech. I went to a smaller school, Georgia Gwinnett College. I got into entrepreneurship at a very young age where I’d buy packs of Yu-Gi-Oh cards and selling the best ones to be able to buy more Yu-Gi-Oh cards. The passion for flipping things continued through high school as I was buying cars, fixing them, and selling them for a profit. I continued this through college. After I graduated, I worked in the legal field as a paralegal for a few years before starting my own business. I took what I already knew (selling cars) and turned it into a successful business. Shortly after that, I started dabbling in real estate. As my real estate business was taking off, my used car dealership started to decline. Eventually, I ended up dissolved my car lot and put 100% of my focus on my real estate business, Hawleri Homes.

In such a short time, I have been able to travel the states and attend various real estate and entrepreneurial conferences. By achieving so much success in such a short time, I have also been invited and spoken on some of the largest entrepreneurial stages in the states. I love what I do because I get to work with people in my own community. Whether it’d be helping someone save their home from foreclosure, helping manage someone’s inherited property, or helping people sell their properties for top dollar without it ever hitting the market. I am able to do this because we purchase these properties using cash (not the traditional financing that most people are common with). By doing this, I am able to close on a house in less than ten days. As my real estate business takes off, I have been able to focus more on my passion: teaching & educating.

My goal is to help more people become entrepreneurs. It doesn’t necessarily need to be in real estate, but the goal is to be financially free so we can choose how to spend our most valuable asset; our time.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Leaving my job and becoming an entrepreneur was NOT easy.

I had to sell my motorcycle, my car, and move back in with my mother.

She supported me for a long time until I was able to get on my feet.

Hawleri Homes, LLC – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
I own and operate Hawleri Homes; Atlanta’s premiere real estate company. We specialize in buying and selling houses. We do this by buying properties from homeowners who cannot sell or do not want to sell the traditional way (listing it, having inspections done, getting an appraisal, paying agent commissions, etc.). We purchase houses using cash! We buy them as-is with no inspections or appraisal contingencies. It also doesn’t cost our seller’s anything as we take care of all the closing costs and real estate related fees. We put people over profits and that is why we have been able to scale the way we have. We currently have nine renovations going on at once and we are constantly buying and selling properties.

What is “success” or “successful” for you?
To me, success is defined by having more time. Success can’t be measured by how much is in someone’s bank account because someone making $50,000 a year can feel very successful and someone making $250,000 a year might not feel successful, because he works 80 hours a week and doesn’t have time to do anything with his life. Success is about how much time you have and how you decide to spend it. True success in entrepreneurship is when you can afford to walk away from your business for more than three months and the processes and revenues don’t change and/or increases.
