Meet Zion Traynum-Harry, YFA Dollar

Today we’d like to introduce you to Zion Traynum-Harry, YFA Dollar.

Every artist has a unique story. Can you briefly walk us through yours?
Writing was always a part of my life from keeping journals in school for a grade to writing for myself at home. It’s been the best way for me to express myself without having any to confide in. After my first year of school at Kennesaw State before dropping out, I was blessed to have met those with similar mindsets to my own, where completing school wasn’t for myself, but to make someone else happy. Creating music in the dorm room, the first semester is where I really realized that aside from writing, speaking your plight to a beat is indeed therapeutic. Taking what I learned from my friends from college, I linked back with my brothers and we created the group YFA (Your Favorite Artist) and honestly, the rest is history, at least it will be.

Please tell us about your art.
I simply create music. I create music as an outlet for myself. Sometimes I think so much I give myself a headache. Being able to write down and project my thoughts/feelings onto song is the greatest gift I have. I always feel like no matter what a song is about that somebody will relate, and whether I reach one person or 1000 people, somebody will know they aren’t alone in what they’re going through. Plus I love to rage, I love the sight of mosh pits and the thought of getting elbowed in the face while turning up to our favorite songs. The only thing you need to know about my music is that it comes from me and that no one else has my voice.

Choosing a creative or artistic path comes with many financial challenges. Any advice for those struggling to focus on their artwork due to financial concerns?
Honestly, I use to think that I wouldn’t be able to do the things I want because of financial problems. I had to realize that if I really wanted to do this that money wouldn’t stop me, I had to crack down, go to work, and get shit down for real. Any true artist won’t let lack of funds stop them.

How or where can people see your work? How can people support your work?
On all the streaming platforms! And honestly, if someone wanted to support me, just follow me @yfadollar and be there to see the work!
