Najeedah Suber & Emir Bailey shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.
Hi Najeedah & Emir , thank you so much for taking time out of your busy day to share your story, experiences and insights with our readers. Let’s jump right in with an interesting one: Who are you learning from right now?
I’m Najeedah and I’m currently learning from Emir. My 4-year-old son is teaching me some of life’s biggest lessons—like slowing down to think before I respond and learning to truly process my feelings. As parents, we all face “big emotions,” but the real question is: what are they trying to tell us? Through Emir, I’ve discovered the power of patience and the value of understanding not just what I’m feeling, but why. And in learning from him, I’m also able to teach him how to process his own big emotions—so he can find his voice and communicate how and why he feels the way he does.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
We’re thrilled to announce that our brand-new children’s book, Emir the Great Monster Truck & the Strawberry Jelly Adventure, is available on Barnes and Noble’s website and Amazon. This heartwarming story is filled with imagination, adventure, and valuable lessons that children will cherish for years. We believe this story is perfect for group story time, bedtime, and is a great gift to the little readers in your life.
Okay, so here’s a deep one: Who taught you the most about work?
Creating a storybook with my son has reminded me that starting something doesn’t always mean it’s finished right away. Writing the story with Emir was exciting—and honestly, the easiest part of the journey! The real work comes in all the little details that follow. To keep ourselves on track, we’ve been using a to-do list, which not only helps us stay organized but also teaches Emir the importance of setting goals and following through. We’d love to welcome other parents into this journey of learning, patience, and creativity.
What fear has held you back the most in your life?
One fear that’s held me back is simply asking—asking for advice, asking for support, or even asking for a simple repost. I used to worry about hearing “no.” But then I asked myself: what does no really mean? Does it mean I stop chasing my goal? The answer is no—it just means I need to find another path. Writing down what I truly want and need has helped me push past that fear and keep moving forward, one step at a time.
Keep asking, keep trying.
Alright, so if you are open to it, let’s explore some philosophical questions that touch on your values and worldview. Whom do you admire for their character, not their power?
I deeply admire Emir’s dad for the man he is. He embodies strength and wisdom, and his perspective on life is always a breath of fresh air. He looks out for everyone he meets—whether it’s holding the door, offering a kind word, or greeting a stranger with warmth. His true wealth is shown not in material things, but in the way he carries himself: with grace, patience, and a strength defined not by the weight of the load, but by how he bears it. Real wealth is found in character—his comes through patience, grace, and the courage to go left when the world says go right, staying true to himself. He teaches by example: to be strong yet gentle, wise yet humble.
Okay, so let’s keep going with one more question that means a lot to us: If you knew you had 10 years left, what would you stop doing immediately?
Procrastinating! I can always do more to reach my next level of success. And if I had a date and time it would be viewed as an to-do-list that must be accomplished.
