We’re looking forward to introducing you to Posh. Check out our conversation below.
Good morning Posh, we’re so happy to have you here with us and we’d love to explore your story and how you think about life and legacy and so much more. So let’s start with a question we often ask: What do the first 90 minutes of your day look like?
My mornings blend Beyoncé-level energy with spiritual discipline. The first thirty minutes are just for time alone with God. I pray, read the Word, and let my spirit meditate in that reflection. My mornings need to be as calm as a silk press and as intentional as a new product launch.
After that, it is time to stretch. I give my body some love, wake up every muscle, and listen for any wisdom my higher self wants to drop before the Atlanta hustle starts knocking. Then I get dressed like I am the main character in my own story, but let’s keep it real. When I’m headed to the salon, I am rocking jeans and a t-shirt. There is no way I am letting hair color, shampoo, or a rogue flat iron mess up my “good clothes.” My work wardrobe says “I mean hair business” but also “I’m not buying another silk blouse just for it to catch some hair dye. Now, when it is time for a night out in Atlanta, that is a whole different movie. Suddenly I’m “that chick” face beat, hair laid, outfit on point, stepping out like I am walking the red carpet. There is work Posh and there is weekend Posh, and both are main character energy in their own lane.
By the time I start my first task, I am not just awake. I am focused and aligned, ready to serve my clients and build something bigger than myself. Those first ninety minutes are my statement to the world that before anyone gets a piece of me, I am pouring into myself. Try it for a week and watch your energy shift.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Posh, and I am the owner of Posh Hair District in Atlanta, Georgia. As a master cosmetologist, I am obsessed with healthy hair care and helping clients feel confident in their own skin. I have built my career on giving real advice and delivering results that last beyond the salon chair.
My days are spent transforming hair, and creating solutions for people who want more than just a pretty style. I am working to launch PHD Rx Formulas, my custom hair care line will be designed for textured and protective-styled hair. These formulas are developed with a chemist and made to solve the real challenges my clients face every day.
What makes me different is my commitment to keeping it honest and educational. I want people to understand their hair, love what they see in the mirror, and feel empowered to care for it long after they leave my chair. I bring Atlanta flavor, industry expertise, and plenty of personality to everything I do.
Right now, I am focused on growing my brand, educating clients and stylists, and building a legacy rooted in healthy hair and authentic connection. My journey is just getting started and I am excited for what is next.
Thanks for sharing that. Would love to go back in time and hear about how your past might have impacted who you are today. What breaks the bonds between people—and what restores them?
What breaks the bonds between people is simple and complicated at the same time. It usually comes down to trust slipping through the cracks. Maybe it is a lie that seemed small or just never saying what you really meant. Sometimes people grow at different speeds and end up on different pages, or maybe pride and ego get in the way. Even the strongest connections can get worn down by silence or the feeling that someone has stopped showing up as their true self.
What restores those bonds is a different kind of magic. It is honesty, not just with each other but with yourself. It is sitting in the uncomfortable truth, choosing to listen instead of defend, and making space for real forgiveness. Sometimes it is just reaching out first, even if your pride is screaming at you not to. Connection returns when both people are willing to rebuild, brick by brick, and leave the old baggage at the door.
At the end of the day, it is about effort. Bonds break when people stop caring enough to put in the work, and they heal when both sides choose to start again. If you want something real, you have to be willing to be real, even when it is hard.
Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
There have absolutely been moments when I almost gave up. This is the part of business ownership that most people never talk about. There have been late nights, tough seasons, and more than a few tears. The pressure can feel like it is coming from every direction and sometimes it seems easier to walk away than to keep pushing.
But every time I get close to quitting, I remind myself that my purpose did not just land in my lap by accident. My faith is what keeps me anchored. Trusting that God put me here for a reason and will provide what I need is what gets me through. That faith is not just a lifeline, it is my fuel. It keeps me grounded, humble, and willing to move forward even when the road is rough.
Owning a business is not all highlight reels and celebrations. It is a daily choice to keep showing up, even when doubt creeps in. For me, resilience is about surrendering the outcome, doing the work, and trusting that I am right where I am supposed to be.
Sure, so let’s go deeper into your values and how you think. Where are smart people getting it totally wrong today?
Smart people get it wrong when they believe that being busy is the same thing as being productive. Hustle is glamorized everywhere, but moving fast does not always mean moving forward. There is a difference between staying booked and building something that actually lasts.
Another thing is thinking that you have to do it all yourself. So many driven people fall for the myth that asking for help is a weakness. In reality, collaboration and delegation are the real power moves.
Finally, a lot of smart people forget the importance of self-care and boundaries. They pour everything into work and success but leave nothing for themselves or their relationships. They miss that rest and restoration are not optional. They are required for any real, sustainable growth.
In my view, intelligence means nothing without wisdom. Sometimes you have to slow down, step back, and trust that the marathon is more valuable than the sprint.
Thank you so much for all of your openness so far. Maybe we can close with a future oriented question. How do you know when you’re out of your depth?
I know I am out of my depth when nothing flows, not even through the kinks. Usually, I can work through challenges and make it look smooth, but sometimes the energy is off, the inspiration is missing, or the answers just will not come. That is when I pause and pay attention. It is a sign that I need to learn, ask for help, or step back and get clear on my next move. When it feels forced and I am grinding instead of growing, that is my cue. It is not about giving up, it is about recognizing when it is time to stretch, adjust, and let something new teach me. Even in business, just like in hair, if it will not detangle, you need a different approach.
