Rising Stars: Meet 4rex

Today we’d like to introduce you to 4rex.

Hi 4rex, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
Being born in a musically inclined family paved the way for me to follow in my ancestors’ footsteps. Growing up, I always had a love for Melodie. From the singing in the showers to recording in studios, there was a sense of fulfillment I received whenever I created music. While being surrounded by artists/musicians from different corners of the world (Europe, Africa, America), both family and friends,it felt contagious. It felt as if I always belonged as I naturally fell into place. I was always encouraged by my peers to pursue the craft, their excuse? “You have a talent, don’t waste it” at some point. During my time in college is when it finally hit home. I decided to take it seriously and explore the world of Music. I decided to fully immerse myself as I now work for Avid, responsible for ProTools, the industry standard for music recording software.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It is never a smooth road. As we all know, when things come fast they don’t last! I had to face predators in the industry and learn how to deal with them. Not everyone whom is close to you is your friend, as the saying goes keep your friends close but your enemies closer. People will put on a mask and approach you under guise of helping and supporting you while their sole aim is to take from you and not give. Get used to rejection, as they will come often than not, but again these are all factors that will contribute to your growth. It is not easy easy finding support, that’s why you have to build your own foundation that will be your support.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I have been interested in music for years and have been creating it professionally since 2019. Though my genre is hip-hop and rap, I don’t limit myself, I sometimes find myself making Pop or even RNB, etc…. People describe my sound sometimes as eclectic since I blend unique melodies mixed with exotic instruments. I speak multiple languages, so you will definitely catch me singing in more than one language. My favorite mix-up is French-English.

Are there any apps, books, podcasts, blogs or other resources you think our readers should check out?
Yes, the Holy Quran is my manual to life. It has helped me reach great heights and still climbing.
