Rising Stars: Meet Aaron Jones

Today we’d like to introduce you to Aaron Jones.

Hi Aaron, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
My name is, Aaron Jones, also known as, “Vegas the Barber.” I was born and raised on the Eastside of Las Vegas, Nevada. I grew up as a musician playing the drums and freestyle dancer. In my formative years, I didn’t envision myself having so many talents. Becoming a barber, producing music, and being in the music industry is now my passion. In 2006 I came to enjoy cutting hair. I had no real training or guidance at the time, but I gave my cousin a “bathroom cut”. I knew from that moment I had a gift and needed to maximize it. Only remembering what I saw from the barbershop, I used those techniques as best I could. From 2006 to 2012 I continued to cut hair around the city, servicing friends and family, sharpening my skills while attending UNLV & CSN, and working at the Wynn Hotel. In January 2013, I made the decision to enroll in barber school in Louisville, Kentucky. I studied under the instruction of Charlotte Palmer, (Ms. C) at the Kentucky College of Barbering. While attending school I was given the name,“VEGAS” by my classmates and that name has stuck with me ever since. Graduating at the top of my class I was now officially the second person on my mother’s side to obtain a hair cutting license. My grandmother, Ruby Boyd, was the first. She owned and operated two salons on the Las Vegas Strip during the early 90’s. During my time in Louisville, I worked out of The Barbershop LLC. Building and maintaining a diverse clientele, while also continuing to seek outside education to perfect my craft. While attending hair shows and competing in barber battles, I locked in on my gift and built my brand, FRESH CUTS DONE DAILY LLC.

At the top of 2020, I felt the need to grow and expand my business. I wanted to move to Atlanta, Ga, however Covid came into play and pushed my plans back. I finally made the move to Atlanta February 2021, and now I’m now currently working at Plush Midtown Barbershop/Salon. I’m learning better business qualities, color and cutting techniques from one of the industries top barbers, Step The Barber. I plan on continuing to grow and expand my brand here in Atlanta over the next 10 years. Not only as barber/Groomer, but as an Image Consultant, photographer, videographer, and all-round businessman. Atlanta is my new home and it is my goal to become one of the most sought after groomers and brands, throughout the entire hair/beauty industry. All glory and honor goes to God, for he has blessed my hands with many gifts and talents, I just want to be sure I bring honor to him and let his light shine through me.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The road was never meant to be smooth. When trying to progress and elevate to other level, there are always going to be adversities. Persevering through adversity is what makes you stronger and shapes your future for the goals you’re striving for.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I’m a licensed professional Barber stylist. Alongside with being a content creator, photographer, and image consultant. I’d would say I specialize in clean grooming, with a old-school feel. Producing quality clean work across the board. I’m proud that I can make this entire brand and skill set my own. I’m proud of myself for pushing through and achieving new milestones. My knowledge in the industry, and my old school barbershop feel, but still modern services set me apart. Clean and luxury services with hints of nostalgia.

Let’s talk about our city – what do you love? What do you not love?
I love the diversity about the city. Even more, I love the networking. If there’s something I’m in need for, there’s always someone to reach out to that is willing to help. There aren’t any crabs in the barrel, everyone wants to see each other win.
