Rising Stars: Meet Aisha Bright and Nic Astore

Today we’d like to introduce you to Aisha Bright and Nic Astore.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
Oye Como Vegan started out as a family food vlog. We wanted to document our homemade meals and vegan food travels in a fun and eclectic way. By doing this, we quickly learned that people wanted more from us. Our audience wanted to learn more about our experiences with vegan food, how they could recreate some of our recipes and what restaurants we were frequently traveling to. With growing interest, we decided to expand our business!

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It hasn’t always been easy. With any business, you will have your ups and downs. For us creating consistent content was a challenge. When covid first hit all of us it was hard to support restaurants and try their new vegan items. We spent a lot of time at home making quick meals and eating vegan takeout from some of our favorite restaurants. We missed our foodie experiences of being able to sit down in a nice restaurant and enjoying a nice meal. Since restrictions have lessened, we are so happy to be able to get back out there a try a few new places around town!

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
We love culinary arts! We love how food is created and how it can bring people to together. We are most known food our colorful approach to food. We love our plates to be full of color and healthy. Being vegan is not at all boring, and we have a lot of variety within our diet. We pride ourselves on showing our audience just that!

How can people work with you, collaborate with you or support you?
We love collaborating with other vegan chefs, plant-based food companies, and restaurants! The best way to reach us is by emailing us at oyecomovegan@gmail.com.
