Meet Aleah Jordan

Today we’d like to introduce you to Aleah Jordan.

Hi Aleah, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I had a nagging feeling for years that I needed to start a blog. The biggest barrier was my fear of judgment! What will people think, what will they say, will they make fun of me? It wasn’t until I found “my way” that I was able to get the ball rolling. I truly felt like God was telling me it was time to share a few of my experiences. I’ve always liked things in order and go the extra mile to make the people I love feel special whenever possible. I was sharing tips, recipes, and suggestions with my village so often that putting it all in one place made more and more sense! Especially after the wedding and buying our first home! I got so many questions around planning a destination wedding and buying your first home that I was starting to copy and paste my responses.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I had a few struggles starting out! Learning how to build a functioning website was the biggest! Thankfully YouTube and Google had my back and got me through it! I am not a techy person so that was a little intimidating at first but a little research + the help desk go a long way!

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
TheLayaB.com was founded in June of 2020, and the response has been overwhelmingly positive! The LayaB is a space where I share sips, treats, and homemaking tips to make life easier and fancier! The world needs to see Black women making a house a home. Black women enjoying the luxury of charcuterie board and a craft cocktail with their girlfriends on a Tuesday! I am most proud of the confidence I have been able to uncover for my village! Hearing about how proud they were to share one of my cocktails with their loved ones or how happy their partner was with the date night they planned. It truly brings me joy! I am well researched and I actually live what I share, I don’t just do it for the gram. That is what sets me apart from others! I responded when someone from my community is at the store and doesn’t know which kind of bitters to grab. I offer suggestions on what types of wine they should have to stock their home bar! Literally, their back pocket beside doing what I can to make them show up as their best selves!

We’re always looking for the lessons that can be learned in any situation, including tragic ones like the Covid-19 crisis. Are there any lessons you’ve learned that you can share?
Covid-19 has shown me the importance of creating a space a love! The importance of creating my own joy and vibe right at home! Sharing that with others has made it even better!
