Rising Stars: Meet Alyssa Tootle

Today we’d like to introduce you to Alyssa Tootle.

Alyssa, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Hey there! I’m Alyssa Rae Tootle, the face behind the camera and proud owner of A.R.T Photography.

I am a natural light, Statesboro-based photographer with a creative edge who is always down to travel and always up for an adventure. No destination is too far- as the journey is truly the destination for me! As every client, I meet is different, my goal is to always shoot in a way that meets each individual’s vibe. While ultimately providing you with the mood and light that you desire, each and every session I shoot has a piece of my heart, soul and vision as a photographer in them.

From early childhood, onward, I was forever “escaping the norm” – adventure was in my blood and a camera was in hand ready to capture every detail of things that I felt were beautiful- which was literally everything- and it never got old to me. “There’s so much beauty in dirt” (Modest Mouse) this quote alone speaks volumes to me, because there is literally so much beauty in the world itself, every which way you turn. You just have to capture it and freeze the memories to sometimes go back and reflect on them. We get so used to what we see in our everyday lives and to me, I feel sometimes it takes a different perspective/seeing things through a lens to see all of the detail we are actually missing.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
In a short, no. But I also feel that no good things in life come completely easy and no road is ever truly “smooth” You just have to kind of pave your own way down some of them or just take a road less traveled.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I’m a creative art photographer- I thrive on creative shoots and anything “out of the box” I strive to capture the raw, real moments and create content that will also speak to everyone. You may find me on top of the parking garage downtown with a couple popping champagne then sharing a pizza in the elevator; in my kitchen shooting a model in front of my fridge with a cake and disco balls, or maybe in front of your local McDonalds with a couple sharing a Happy Meal on a random Tuesday.

The photography industry is huge! I feel we are all already set apart just by being our own individual selves. You can have 5 photographers shooting the same set, but every one of them will surely shoot it differently. It’s community over competition for me, always.
