Rising Stars: Meet Amber Iman The Style Medium

Today we’d like to introduce you to Amber Iman The Style Medium.

Hi Amber, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I started out as a young teen who loved colors and loved to dress. I didn’t go the traditional route of going to a university after high school and actually took a couple of years to begin college courses. But by the time that I did, I was for certain that I wanted to be a fashion stylist! I imagined myself working for a magazine company styling all the celebrities on the most fun sets. So, I attended the Art Institute of Tampa and pursued a degree in Fashion Marketing and Management. Here I gained lots of experience and learned what the fashion industry truly meant beyond clothing and designer names. My graduation plans were to move to Atlanta and take over the fashion game. LOL. Although it would take me about a year to get to Atl and two years (due to quarantine) to really start making moves on the Atlanta fashion scene, I am so happy to have moved here! I believe everything that I’ve been through during my time here in the A has really helped me to grow and develop as a creative and fashion stylist. Since 2020, I have produced photoshoot concepts, secured a go-to photographer, worked on the production of a fashion show, walked in a fashion show and so much more! The people that I have met here are top-tier influential entrepreneurs and those are the people that will help me reach further than I have already come!

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It definitely has been a bumpy road for me, but I take it like a soldier and continue to press forward! One of the main struggles I face as a creative is creation vs real life. As a colorful person, it is sometimes hard to balance everyday life with my creating process. For me, I have tried to implement routines that could help me to stay on track and also give me a space to actually take care of any of my “adulting” tasks.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am a fashion stylist and creative director. I specialize in fashion styling, but I am a creative director because I produce photoshoot concepts as well. My style is classically chic with an edginess that is borderline eclectic. Because of this unique mix, my style sense is very “one of one” and at the same time for everyone! LOL. One of the most standout moments thus far in my career is the time when Tyra Banks, yes- TYRA BANKS reposted my picture. She reposted it AND tagged me which I thought was so genuine and cool. For me, this was everything because Tyra has inspired my life and career so much! It also gave me confirmation that my style is eye-catching and fly. Which brings me to what sets me apart, and that is being myself. Bringing things that I personally like into my style and styling creations is what allows me to stand alone. The ideas that make up an outfit are my own interpretations of my environment and that can’t be bought anywhere else.

If we knew you growing up, how would we have described you?
Growing up, I was always talkative, bossy, and uniquely myself. I say that meaning I’ve, for the most part, always been pretty comfortable in my own skin. I was always leading some adventure with my younger cousins or around my mom absorbing everything I thought I needed to be just like her. Funny thing is as a kid, I thought I wanted to be a pediatrician, but as I grew up, I found I was a lot more on the artistic side of things.
